Hello everyone:

I posted some pics of Moses and told his story in the pictures section of this site, here is a link:

http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=231776

he is very very sick, he is struggling to breath and he doesn't want to eat. I took him to the vet and he is on medication, but he seems worse. I don't want to lose him and seeing him suffer is so terrible, I don't know what to do. I think I have to wait and see if the medicines and antibiotics work, but it is so awful to see him suffer so much.

Loving animals is wonderful, but it is also painful.

I"m so sad

Hi Tammy... Are you keeping him warm? A steam bath can help him breath easier too... You can feed him a little at a time with a syringe or a dropper, but he needs to be fed....

I'm sending all my prayers to Moses. I hope he starts feeling and getting better very soon. I love the name you game him, this poor kitty deserves a chance and you and the little girl sure are helping him get just that. Bless you both.

Thank you all so much . I was just feeding him, he was drinking the formula just fine yesterday, but today he is worse.

He tries to swallow the formula , but he starts coughing and he spits it out. he is in so much pain. Is not fair that he has to suffer this much, I"m so upset I"m crying,

I'll just keep praying...

How do i prepare a steam bath? I don't have a steamer, should I boil water and put it near him? That could burn his airways, I won't do it until i hear how it is done.

Hopefully someone with more experience will answer, but I would just start running a steamy shower and bring the little one into the bathroom with you, with the door closed, and see if the warm steamy air helps (don't run the fan!)...at least that's what friends of mine do when their kids have the croup.

I hope he gets better - but at least he's being loved and cared for.

I am so sorry, can't imagine what you must be going through.

I am here tonight feeling sorry for myself as my kittens wound keep opening up, and then I see what poor you is having to deal with.

I am praying for the little fella.

If you take a warm show, or even just have the shower running hot without you in it, it should create enough steam. That's how I steam our dogs if they get congested a bit. Just have him in there while you shower, or sit in there with him if you just have the water running.

I'm so sorry your little guy is so sick. I hope the shower helped.
I had a kitty once that got a bad upper respiratory infection. We took her into the bathroom and ran the shower hot several times a day. It really helped her breath a lot. She did recover. I'm hoping the best for Moses.

I also just read Moses story and am so very sad to hear he is not doing well. I imagine this is just as awful for you to see him suffering. I know at my shelter they use a "nebulizer" for kittens/cats who can't breathe. I wonder if you vet would have one of these? Of course, it is Saturday night and they are closed on Sundays. I hope the steam bath helps. I am sending you my strongest vibes that I can muster for little darling Moses. I pray he makes it and I pray for you as well, this must be extremely emotional for you.

Yes, the steamy shower.... My bathroom has a heater, so I run that on the top of it.
Put the kitty on your lap, and keep him high as the steam goes up towards the ceiling.... Just stay there with the shower running hot water for a while - a good 15-20 minutes or so (15-20 minutes when there is already plenty of steam).

If you have any eucalyptus oil, you can put some in a pot of water and bring to a simmer. Then place it near where the kitty sleeps, but out of reach of the kitty. The eucalyptus oil will help open the nasal passages. Also, if you have a baby suction thingie, you might try sucking out some of the snot from her nose.

Well, little Moses is hanging in there, but he is so sick
I did the shower steaming two times and then fed him some drops of formula and he slept a little, but he was breathing so fast. Then I gave him the antibiotic, which was upsetting because he was asleep and I had to wake him up and he started screaming.

he can't get up, which break my heart, and he looks so poorly, he looks more comfy when i hold him and he feels my hands, it seems to calm him so i spent time holding him and talking to him and then he fell asleep again and here I am now.

I will be checking him during the night, I'm emotionally exhausted, but I don't care about myself right now, all I care about is that tiny baby suffering, I doubt I will be able to sleep tonight. I will keep updating./

Tahnk you all so much for your help and kind words, I appreciate it

HUGS!
