Well done you, keep it up. xxx

Good job, also another big pro is the fact that you will have much better cardiovascular endurance- if you are a runner or like to work out that will make a HUGE difference in how you perform in your workouts!!

Thanks, guys!!
My boyfriend is quitting at same time too (we live together). The first day we bickered a little bit but today not so bad...I feel like I need to avoid stressful situations though until I've got some more time under my belt..first instinct when stressed is to light up
Last time I quit I made it 6 weeks and I was feeling sooo good and then he was hospitalized and it all went to he** in a handbasket, lol.

I can think of a suggestion- come up with things you can do to replace smoking in times of stress...
Things like make yourself a coffee, or suck on a lollipop or eat sunflower seeds In time, as you go for a longer period of time without smoking, you will likely come up with things like these distractors without realizing it...
I know it's really tough, but it's totally worth it!

Congrats, you can do it!!!

You're house, car, and clothes will smell better too, assuming no one else in the house smokes!

Another thing is I'm not naturally a domestic goddess, usually I really have to push myself to get things done around here. And it got to the point after everytime I finished household chores a cigarette would be a reward. I'd do like a half hour of work and then reward with a smoke. So I think that's what I've noticed is bugging me.
The funny thing is coffee too..I always felt like coffee and a cig just go hand in hand. That and a leisurely smoke after a meal. I've been snacking on chocolate after meals..not so great for my waistline but at least I'm not smoking??

Congrats sweetie!

I've been through it myself. Dana and I quit together a year and a half ago, and trust me, if we could get through that first week, we can get through anything.

Good for you!! You can do it!

I quit smoking in 1978. It is the best thing I ever did for myself. You will never be sorry. A big plus is not waking up with that cottony taste in your mouth every morning. I chewed gum and ate sugar free candies as I was worried I would gain weight, but I didn't . Congratulations and keep up the great work.

Thanks, guys. Lol yeah the first day we were bickering about the silliest things like who touched the Netflix last, etc.Things seem to be okay today though. We are here and there puffing on those electronic cigarettes to get a bit of nicotine here and there so we're not insanely crankyEventually those will go away too..we don't like nic gum or patches so this is a good "backup" for the time being though not a solution.
My boyfriend got irritated with a customer service rep this AM and went to the truck and found half a cig in the ashtray and had a few puffs of that. I didn't join him because if I let myself have just a taste of a real cig I will just end up buying a pack or being even crankier afterwards so i'm just sticking with my electronic thingamajigs for the moment.
i might be a little more chatty here now as i try to distract myself

I shall sacrifice a kentucky fried chicken for your continued success. *licks fingers*

Thanks!! That is actually one HUGE motivator for me. I have always gone above and beyond for them EXCEPT in this area and I've had this nagging guilt about it in the back of my mind. I actually feel relieved that I'm not opening windows trying to get all the smoke out the last few days, that I know for a fact they are not inhaling it rather than just trying to undo the damage.
And, at 31 years old, let's face it i'm not getting any younger here, it's bound to catch up with me

3 days of no smoking keep it up
I just passed my 3 week mark, and I'll be honest, there are times when I would seriously love a cigarette I quit because I absolutely cannot afford it anymore, apparently money is an excellent motivator for me I've also been going thru what I would call one of the most stressful times of my life right now, so figure if I can quit in the middle of all this, I'm golden I have noticed that I am coughing a whole lot less and my sense of smell is improving too.

I'm 33 and I always said I would quit when I turned 30- so I'm a few years late You can do it too!

Stay strong hun! What you are doing for your body by quitting (and your pet's bodies) is terrific! Lean on us if you have cravings or a bump in the road. Each day is a fresh start and a new day for good changes.

Thanks you guys..There were some really tempting moments this morning but I did not cave
KatieMae, that is so funny I told myself the same thing--I'd quit at 30. I did for six weeks but then some major things happened and I just went totally backwards because I was so overwhelmed.
I hope I do it for real this time!!
My boyfriend already caved and it smells nasty on him..I think that's a good sign that it smells kind of gross to me right now. At least he is going outside when he caves. Usually when one of us messes up the other one uses it as an excuse to mess up too. But i'm not going to allow myself just because he gave in...I can do this!!!

Good job.

BF and I tried to quit and we didnt make it 2 hours past waking up. Between having to run into town for something and him sitting next to me razzing me saying "I NEED A SMOKEEEEE" in a creepy raspy monster voice I caved. Im down to 2 packs a week and Im slowly weening myself down because I cant cut it cold turkey. Im going to look into getting either eletronic cigarettes for us or the gum but Im going to work really hard at weaning myself down till Im literally at a couple cigarettes a week and then quit. We both want to quit...kinda...at thats a problem because we could take or leave quitting its not something we are gung ho about we just wanna do it because smoking has become more of a chore than anything else.

I have been smoke free for almost 9 months (and , no, I am not pregnant).

Don't be afraid to use patches / gum when you need to. Don't feel that you are failing because you can't adhere to someone else's quit program. Everyone is different

I have given up a few time before, but nothing stuck.

This last time I wore a patch for 3 weeks to help with the nicotene withdrawal, then nothing. I have not had so much as a puff

I feel fantastic! I still get the odd craving - but I can control it, and it passes really quickly.

It IS worth it

You can do it!

Congratulations! You can do this!

After smoking 2 packs a day for 20 years, I finally quit almost 16 years ago. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. And to this day, there are times when I would cheerfully kill for a cigarette....I don't think the craving ever really goes away. You just learn to live with it.

Keep up the great work!

Wishing you luck to continue. It has been 2 years this week since I quit for the last time. I had tried many times before but this time apparently I was ready.

Keep strong lady - you can do it.

Okay, so since yesterday I had a really strong craving for a smoke. Today it got so bad I was tempted to get cigarettes. But I DIDN'T.
I think the prob was I thought I was ready to stop with the nicotine supps that I'm getting by using right now (electronic cigs which are basically nicotine and water vapor..it helps me because it looks like a real cig and you have that hand motion of smoking but it's just like gum or the patch, really..).
So, instead I went out and got more nicotine from the electronic cigs. It's really funny charging my "cigarette" every night in the outlet but hey it is working to keep me from the real thing.
I feel kind of bad I am not able to let go of the nicotine too yet but it's only been 6 days..and I used to smoke 1-2 packs of cigarettes a day by myself. So I guess I shouldn't try to rush getting off the nic and then setting myself up for failure. At least I am still tobacco free and there is no second hand smoke, etc.
So, I'm hanging in there. These last two days have been rough though. I guess I just jumped the gun on being completely without nicotine.
ETA: I saw my doc yesterday and she said not to be too hard on myself, it absolutely still counts as no smoking so I guess I should listen to her.

What strength e-liquid are you using? Most people start with high (18 mg) or extra-high and then taper down over a period of weeks or months, even a year or two. The device makes a difference, too, with the Ego/Tornado/Riva recommended the most. Have you checked out forums like ECF for tips?

Well me and my bf both pitched in for the starter packs, one of us got the No.7s and the other got the Eco-Cigs so we're kind of rotating both of those around.
The cartomizers are high strength but if I recall right I think this brand's "high" dose is 16mg.
I didn't even know there were forums for these. Well I don't feel too bad then that I am at the 16mg and it's still been under a week since I quit.
I will for sure look into forums for that, thanks so much, I didn't even know any existed, it hadn't occured to me.
