A picture of a grey, dirty, skinny cat in the classic hissing halloween pose, with claws digging into the ground. Oh, and an eye missing. The right one.

Stereotypes are pervasive by definition, so they're more likely to be the very first thing to pop into someone's head.

Most ferals are stray cats with feral tendencies. With all the years working with them, my first thought that comes to me with the word feral is misunderstood.

Hungry and frightened. Ferals break my heart, even though many of the feral colonies here are well managed and we have some of the chubbiest ones I have ever seen.

Heartache, lonely, hungry, never secure, always looking over their shoulder and never knowing what love is and to be cared for. Everything a cat should never be...
