Queen Eva's Picture Thread!

You asked for it! The pictures and story line take up 11 posts, I've already put it all together and now will copy and paste like mad from my email folder, so they can all stay in order:

1) Okay I'm pretty sure I posted Queen Eva's first day pictures, so I won't include them here. Well maybe just a couple for comparison. She's growing fast!

Queen Eva at 8 weeks, first day here:

Home from the vet, second day here. She had to spend the whole day there, I dropped her off in the morning and picked her up at 6 p.m. It was an exhausting day!

2)First week: (after the vet visit.)

It didn't take her long to start some havvok rekkin, water bowl spilled, litter box spilled, but I found a solution pretty quick (those wet spots in the litter box are wet polydactyl footprints, not pee)

I prepared a large dog crate, kept in my bedroom, her Castle, for her to live in during the day when I was at work, once the fleas were gone. It was too hot in my bathroom during the day, plus I wanted them all to get acquainted.. At night I put her back in the bathroom.

Tolly took charge of her immediately.

Tolly loved Queen Eva right away

When I was home in the evening, I would let her out of the Castle, but keep her in the bedroom behind the screen door.

3) Her second week here I was on vacation, so I started letting her out and about during the day. At night, when I went in to brush my teeth, and put food down for her, preparatory to putting her to bed, she would follow me in and put herself to bed. It was so cute. Every night for a week she put herself to bed in the bathroom

and then one night she didn't

so from then on she was fully integrated, night and day.

4)In another thread I posted pictures of Tolly and Queen Eva already playing together only a day or two after I integrated her in her second week. But Mazy wasn't far behind

Ey luff myown Tolly!

5)Some more pics from her second week, 10 weeks old

Queen Eva is not camera shy

I love this one. I've never had a cat sleep like this though I've seen many pictures of cats who do.

Every day is Discovery day!

6)Queen Eva likes to curl up behind my lap top when I'm on the computer so I whipped her up a little bed. At first she didn't seem to like it, but it turned out she just didn't like the plaid side. Once I turned it over, she loved it.

Ey luff myown beyd!

She likes to peek around at me now and then

8)Queen Eva took to her harness right away.

To take Tolly and Mazy and Jennie out into their yard, I had to wait for Queen Eva to take a nap in the bedroom. "We have to put the baby to bed first" I would tell them. Then I would quietly close the screen door (installed in my bedroom doorway) and hook it and sneak outside with the other cats. The first few days this was easy, because she had found herself a bed only a kitten could use. There was a mattress cover I had washed, hanging over a wooden dowel drying rack. Not sturdy enough for big cats but just right for a kitten.

She never even knew we were gone.

She was quite pleased with herself about this, until the day I caught her using the drying rack bed as a launching pad to jump up to the screen in the window above her. That was the end of that bed!

9)This past weekend was just so gorgeous. I couldn't stand it anymore, I had to take her out with us. She's not nearly ready to be allowed free reign in the fenced yard though, so, since she's not using the Castle in the house any more I brought it outside.

Now she can come out with us all the time, but still be safe and protected.

The first day I put a litter box in with her. She didn't use it so I didn't bother after that.

She couldn't figure out how to get into her hammock at first, since when it was in the house there was a tote to climb on. But she soon figured it out. (videos)

The second day, I didn't bother with the litter box

10)Jennie has not been as enthusiastic as Tolly and Mazy, but she's coming around

Tolly Jennie and Queen Eva napping together

Mazy was in the room too, up on the Perch (they all like to hang out together)

Waiting for supper!

The great Equalizer: Homemade chicken gravy:Jennie and Queen Eva shared a dish, and Jennie didn't swear once!

Look at that l-o-n-g tail!

11)And finally....I love this one. She was all tucked, looking just like a mini big cat.

Thanks for looking. Hope you liked it.

So many pictures of Queen Eva! She is so precious it is great to watch her grow! She looks just like I imagine my Spooky would have at that age (I didn't get him til he was 7 months old). So precious! When she gets bigger are you going to let her on the leash to roam the garden too?

Thank you! I have a zillion more, but I just can't keep up with organizing them. I also have a lot more videos than those two, also not organized yet.

Yes, once Queen Eva is fully vaccinated and is big enough so that I am sure she can't fit through the fence squares, she'll get her String to attach to her Harness like the Big Cats.

For now this is perfect, because it teaches her that when out in the yard, there are barriers that cannot be gotten around.

I take her from the house to the Castle in a carrier. I don't want her associating the door with outings in the yard yet. I carry her out, and leave her in the carrier facing away, while I let the other cats come out, so she does not see them using the door either.

Then I place the carrier in the Castle facing in, and let her out and quick shut the Castle door.

Thank you! Queen Eva is pure delight. Yes she seems to take real pleasure in that long lean stretch. And she's truly settled, it's as if she has been here always.

I'm still working on fitting into the budget the $120 a month extra it costs to feed another mouth, but I was meant to have her so it will work out somehow.

She is a little beauty! You have a real nice group there. I wish I knew how to post pics. No one has ever seen my gang.

I recognize that screen door. That is how I have integrated cats in the past.

Thank you! Yes, the screen door is great. I use it all the time. I put it in when Jennie came because she had to be in quarantine for two weeks. Ootay Tolly and Mazy and I slept on the floor in the living room for two weeks.

I kept it because it is so handy. I can still shut the bedroom door if I need to, but I don't need to. If someone has to come into my apartment, for instance, I can put them all in the bedroom and hook the door and know they are safe while the plumber or whoever goes in and out.

Do you have pictures of your cats on your computer? We can help you with how to post them.

If you don't have a digital camera, when you get your film developed, have the pictures put on a cd also, that you can load onto your computer.

Another choice is to have prints scanned at Office Max (or other office supply store) and they can either put them on a cd or e mail them to you.

I know we'd all love to see your kitties.

Oh she's growing up soooo fast! She is SUCH a darn cutie (and she SO knows it! ). Gary "oooo'd" and "awwwww'd" along with me.

Thank you for the picture story!

I am totally in love with the gorgeous Queen Eva, and it's wonderful to see her progress (both physically and in integrating in your household). I did not get my boys until they were nine months old, so I didn't get to see them at this age.

Awww..thank you, and to Gary, too. Queen Eva just gets bigger and her personality develops more every day.

Thank you! Queen Eva is my first baby in 11 years. Tolly found me in a rain storm when he was 5 weeks old, and he's 11 now. (He'll be celebrating his Gotcha Day next week) Mazy and Jennie were both adults, and I was not planning on any more kittens ever, but Ootay had other ideas

Thank you! I think so too. I got some good video tonight of Tolly and Queen Eva Tumbling.

It's so much fun having her here. We all love her, even grouchy Jennie.

Thank you! No I didn't make it, though it was not easy to find. Everything is plastic these days. I did install it myself.

What a great picture thread!!!

I just kept on laughing out loud at Queen Eva's antics! Love the pic of her on the screen door, and the one of her "plae-ing" with her mouth wide open!

She really does have a l-o-o-o-o-o-n-g tail, doesn't she!?!

Thanks so much for sharing such a fun thread!!!

Thanks, Otto! Your pictures of Eva brought smiles to me this morning. I found myself laughing at the picture of her peeking out at you. She's a beautiful little girl and you've caught her doing some wonderful new things and having such a good time.

I love having a kitten in the house because everything is new and exciting for them and they look at everything in a whole different light than adult cats do. And when you haven't had a kitten in awhile, it's truly a joy.

Eva is beautiful, just beautiful and she's winning over your other furkids. I hope she has a long, healthy life with you and Jennie, Mazy, and Tolly. You have a great furfamily, you really do!

That screen door is coming in handy in another way too. Jennie is very difficult to motivate into any kind of physical activity but one of her Games is to chase a special bootlace on my bed.

Of course Queen Eva wants to be involved in any Game, but Jennie won't play her Game on the bed if Queen Eva comes in. So now I shut the screen door, with me and Jennie on the inside, so Jennie can play in peace.

Thanks for looking! I follow my specific harness training method for all cats. I'll be happy to share it with you if you decide to try it.

All my other cats were adults when trained to harness, Queen Eva is the first kitten I have trained. She is not yet free to be in the yard though.

Thank you! It's lively around here, that's for sure! Queen Eva keeps us busy, but we keep her busy too. That tail is really something.

Thank you! Queen Eva is an absolute joy. We all love her. I have all four of them on the bed with me at night. Jennie is starting to realize I think that Queen Eva has no intention of threatening her #2 Cat Rank.

It's going to be a fun winter. Problem is, anytime I am out and about, all I want to do is come home and play with the cats. Of course I've always been like that but the draw is stronger than ever now!
