I just gave her a warm bath and now she is getting a little excersise. I'm hoping it wil stimulate her bowels and get her to go poo. If she hasn't pooed in the next 4 hours though, I will be taking her to the E-vet since it will have been 24hrs since her last poo. I hope she goes though sicne the e-vet is crazy expensive and I would much rather take her on monday to my regular vet.

When I took her in on Monday, the vet then didn't say anything about the bum looking weird, but then again she was mostly focused on how skinny the cat was, and getting her pooing again.

I'm getting really depressed about Alley. I'm starting to think maybe I can't fix her. I have a feeling this vet visit tonight is not going to go well.

She's crying out in pain and keeps trying to poo, but of course nothing is comming out.
My sitters comming in a few hours to watch my son, then I will be taking her to Emerg.
Anything I can do for her in the meantime??

I am so sorry. Only thing you can do is ask ALL these questions to the vet and make sure to get a detailed answer for everything. Then do your best and hopefully she will get better. Maybe she just doesn't know how to go potty yet and still needs stimulation, have you tried it (mimic the mommy's tongue with a soft wet clothe)? Because she is so skinny she might just be taking longer to be able to go potty by herself?

Good luck.

How was it?
you can give her more fiber... Mix a little mashed canned pumpkin (plain, not filling) to her canned food every day - that will give her more fiber. She might need laxatives as well...
Please let us know how it was...

Just got back from the vets.
Alley is being put down on Monday. The vet said that the bum issue is a birth deformity. Its not going to get better. He said he could possibly fix the issue this time (if I wanted to spend around 1000 dollars) but the same issue would just happen again in another week.
He told me it wasn't fair to the kitten to keep if alive.
I'm so broke up about this. He gave me some laxitives to do me until Monday so I can make an appointment with my own vet.
I'm just heartbroken. I really hoped I could make her better. The poor thing is only a month old and I have to put it down.

What type of pain meds would you give to a 4 week old kitten? She is in so much pain right now that I need to get her something until tomorrow.
I'm going to have to force feed her as well I guess. She hasn't really eaten much of anything for over 24hrs.
Its surprising how quickly she went downhill. I know I've only had her for a week, but already she's left a special place in my heart and I'm going to miss her so much.

Not what I was hoping to read, but not surprised either after seeing those pics

Bless her, poor little mite

Sometimes, there is just nothing we can do, except do that one, final act of kindness for them.

Tomorrow, let her go to the Bridge with love. My Lucy who went to the Bridge two weeks ago, didn't like adult cats, but seemed to love kittens. I'm sure Lucy will look after this baby for you

I will be thinking of you tomorrow because I know it will be very sad for you.

Love and Light.

Yes, I am sorry to read this, too. I was hoping for a better outcome.

I had a somewhat similar expreience about 10 years ago, which I still think about. The only consolation was that, like you did, I tried my best and it was at least better than if I had not found her out in that field, that day.

I am a big old guy that works in what is thought of as a bit of a "macho" business, but I will say that I cried like a child when I buried here in a quiet spot in my yard, since were out in the country.

I have found, unfortunately, that if you love cats, sometimes things come along that will break your heart.

She's so young that I can't say for sure, but adult cats can handle Aspirin (or other brand with acetylsalicylic acid), the dosage is 10mg/kg. If you need stronger, then you can give her something with oxycodone (like Tylox), but I don't know about the dosage, less than in Aspirin I'd assume. Do not give her paracetamol.

Lots of vibes for you and the cute little Alley.

The E-vet just gave her some Torbutrol (which they said is a narcotic). I just gave it to her half an hour ago, and already she looks much more comfortable.
Its the least I can do for her to make her last 24hrs as pain free as possible.
They also gave her some sub-qs to keep her hydrated as she's not eating.

And never a truer word was spoken

When we lost our German Shepherd 3 years ago to cancer (she was 13) my husband cried bucket loads. He was so upset he took 2 days off work - not like him as he never takes time off but eventually, an old cliche I know, but time does heal. You never forget them - ever but the ache lessens with time.

GothicAngel. The best I can do is send cyber hugs for what you are doing

Oh, I really didn't want to see this. I'm crying right now, I'm sure you are too. I'm so sorry that there really isn't anything that can be done for her, that's such a shame. At least you tried as hard as you could, and she knew some kind of love in her short time..

I'm so sorry you have to do this, but, it's probably better for her in the long run.
to you and your uncle.

At least she will be in loving arms as she crosses the Bridge

She seems to be feeling much better right now. She's not screaming anymore, and she's managed to have a few small poos from the laxatives I've been giving her. Hopefully this will give her at least some relief until tomorrow.

I am not sure where you got this information, but Aspirin or anything containing Aspirin can be highly toxic or even fatal for cats. This cat is going to the bridge, but I hope you are not using your advice, or passing it along to other cat owners... Aspirin is very dangerous for cats.
***Never ever give it to a cat without CLOSE vet monitoring, as it lingers on the cat's body for 2-3 days, and any mistakes in dosage can kill your cat.

Really?! I've heard that from several vets. They told me that paracetamol is toxic to cats and in case of emergency, use Aspirin. They did say that you can only give it every 2-3 days (like you said, it stays in the body that long). Well, I'm glad I have never used it for the kitties! I need to tell this to many cat people I know, they have received the same istructions from different vets so we thought it's safe..
