Okay I'm pretty sure that these are contractions. She wants her belly rubbed all over and when I rub it I can feel the uterus close over the kitten to where it feels like there is no fluid left at all then after a minute it releases and I can feel the fluid again. She is nesting like crazy! I've never seen her do this before.

It sounds like you're going to have kittens tonight.
Go, Carly!

Is she pushing or are the contractions just getting stronger?

No pushing, nothing. I got tired and went to my room. I figure she'll call me if she wants me. She walks around searches, nests, rests, drinks water, and that's it. I'm exhausted so I can get up in a couple of hours and check on her. She might wait until the morning, who knows with her.

You can't get tired and leave when delivering kittens, you should stay with her. She may 'freak out' after birthing the first kitten and need assistance, plus you need to ensure all placentas are delivered.

Poor Carly...
What a releif it will be for both of you when these kittens are finally out! Any updates? The meowing sounds pretty normal for a cat in labor. Around the time when she's have them, the contactions will be VERY visible, no mistaking them.

Come on Carly!!

No kittens, no pushing, no strong contractions, nothing. I knew she wasn't going to deliver and I was close enough to hear her if she cried out and needed me so that's not a big deal. She wasn't even contracting enough to be visible and there's no need for me to sit there and watch NOTHING happening.

Anyway I took her temp this morning and it's down to 98.8. That's the lowest it's ever been. She's not having the discharge anymore so my guess is it was her plug. I've read they can go up to 48 hours after losing their plug before they give birth. She's at 24.

I'm pretty sure she lost her "plug" the other day and it was her "water" that broke yesterday. All being normal from what I have read. I know when I realized Baby Girl was having contractions they were not really close together and not that strong. As the day wore on they got closer and stronger (just like ours do). Until her cervix was dilated and it was time to push. I think for now everything is good. Hopefully she will continue to make progress today and have those kittens SOON. If she doesn't then you might want to call the vet about giving her something to help her.

How are the contractions today so far?

I honestly cannot feel them. I don't know if I'm putting my hand in the right spot or what but I cannot feel anything but kitten movement and that's not as strong anymore. They are just squirming today whereas yesterday they were really moving and kicking around. She seems fine. She's affectionate and eating and drinking water. She doesn't have any foul discharge. I'm just worried she's not contracting strong enough to get kittens out and that they will all die if I don't do something.

I would go ahead and call the vet. They can give her medicine to induce. I really think it would be a good idea at this point.

I called and she too said that at this point she would have thought something more would be going on. My vet is out of town so I have to call another vet to get opinions on what to do.

What's with the crying? She starts crying anytime I move around. She was burrowing under my blanket while I watched a movie earlier and won't stop following me around. She seems very unsure of herself. Does this sound like normal labor symptoms?

usually when they are very close they won't want their person to leave-I know when my mom cat was in labor(delivered a hour or so later) i got up to grab something and she started to get up and out of box. I sat down and she settled right back in

Okay quick update. She is pushing occasionally, nostrils flaring, purring, staying in the crate but only if I stay right by her. Kittens soon!

Okay let me clarify what she did so that you understand since she's not doing it now. She would position her back feet on the walls of the crate and bare down causing her stomach to move. She did this 3 times but I had to move so she moved and now we are back to nothing.
