Hello

How heavy are your little ones.

According to TV adverts, an average cat is 4KG thats about 9 pounds.

My Taffy, the smallest, skinny thing, is 5KG thats about 11 pounds.
My Bollo, the fat cat, is 5.8KG that is about 12 pounds.
My Bubbles, the big cat is not the smallest at 10KG, or about 22 pounds.

I weight myself and then myself and bubbles, then done some maths, so its not 100%

What do you feed your cats? Who eats the most? How often do they eat?

Mine are
Zoey 8.5 to 9 lbs
Dahlia 12-12.5 lbs
Sylvie 13-13.5 lbs
Pj 13.5 to 14 lbs
Punky 14-14.5 lbs

they eat dry, wet , raw and some homemade

the boys eat roughly 300 calories a day while the girls eat about 250 cal a day

Around here the ave for a typical housecat ( not a particular breed) is
female 7-11 lbs male 8-13 lbs

I personally think the average of 9lbs is outdated

Autumn is around 8lbs, the vet would like her to eat more but she doesnt - she has never had that I was a feral and must eat all the food I can mentality
Quincy & Boomer are around 10-11lbs
Magnum & Bumper around 14-15lbs and need to lose a few

Unless Bubbles is a large breed cat (which he doesnt look from the pic in your signature) 22lbs can be very unhealthy for a cat (and is almost like a person being 300lbs)

As to who eats the most, definitely Quincy, he is a little piglet and can be fairly aggressive with food so is fed separately from the others. They get wet in the evening and are free fed a measured amount of dry.

They are fed Orijen dry and various wet foods, depending on who eats what, Bumper will only eat Fancy Feast so he gets that, the others get Fromm and other brands they like

Wow, a bigger cat than Bugsy on the board!

My Little Girl Hope is 10lbs, and she eats all wet, Ziwipeak exclusively, 2x/day.
Lucky is 12.6 Lbs, and she eats EVO, all dry, measured free feed.
Bugsy, the giant Weighs in a hefty 19 lbs and eats a combination of Ziwipeak and EVO, but mostly EVO dry, also measured free fed.

When I adopted Holland she was 5 months old and weighed about 4 pounds. Her vet told me that she would be a small girl and probably wouldn't ever weigh more than 8 pounds.

Her last vet visit had her at about 6 1/2 pounds, after gaining 1/2 pound after she had dental surgery. Her dental vet wanted her to gain a pound from where she was at 6 lbs at the time of her surgery.

She currently is on wet food only, I feed her 3 cans (9 oz) a day. I am planning to take her in to get a current weight soon, as I feel that 9 oz is slightly too much for her every day. They say that you should feed 1 oz per pound of the cat's (ideal) weight each day, so Holland is probably overeating by a couple of ounces a day. She's not chubby though, so I haven't worried about it yet.

Does your vet agree with EVO for Bugsy? Mine is fine with me feeding it but not for Magnum who needs to loose weight

Pearl is the oldest and she weighs about 11 lbs.
Next is Scooter, he is a small boy at about 8 lbs.
Pepper is long legged and kinda funny built, like she is put together from spare parts. and about 10 lbs.
Fluffy is our tiny girl at about 6 lbs.
They free feed dry food, and each get 1/4 of a can of wet food in the morning. More of a treat than an actual meal, but if they get too much wet food, they stop eating all of it for some reason. They are all healthy and shiny.
One of my RB kitties, Leo, was a whopping 22 lbs of beautiful red tabby.

As you can see in the pic, he is not a fat cat.

Bubbles is like the God Father of this area. What he wants he will get, being a larger cat, he automatically is bigger than most. For example, average human height is 6ft, bubbles is like 6ft 10. So his weight is not fat, but it is well balanced with his hight.

If I am asleep, he wants to lay on my bed, most of the time I move over, if not I will get pushed over.

When he has his dislocated tail, we left him on a bed, and he would not allow anyone to come close to it.

Yes for different reasons.
He initially wanted to put Bugsy on Purina DM, as it is high protein "low carbs" (even though I don't consider 18% to be low; EVO is 10%, almost 1/2), but I didn't like the ingredients... There was also the issue that Bugsy is allergic to chicken and DM also has soy and a lot of other stuff that I was afraid wouldn't agree with his IBD system. So He wanted the highest protein, lowest carb for him. EVO Herring and Salmon was the compromise I found...
What does your vet want you to feed? He did tell me to add fiber to his food, and I do have fiber capsules here, but I am not adding it right now as Lucky is not eating well as it is, and it lowers the food intake...

Almost all my cats are 9 lbs. Eden is about 7.5 lbs, Goat-Head is only 6 lbs, Lola about 8 lbs, Gumby is still growing somewhere around 7 lbs. Squishy is 13 lbs, Tony Bob is 12 lbs, while Billy Bob is only 8-9 lbs.

We talked about a few different options (Purina DM was one of them and I made the same comments as you) but we agreed on Orijen since it is lower in calories per cup and he is the kind of cat who likes quantity (he whines when he can see the bottom of the dry food bowl)

Many successful cases of weight loss or control with EVO at the local vets here..

Yep, I was on Orijen 6-fish for a long while, and IMO it is the best dry food EVER... I might go back to it... will see... I went to EVO due to higher protein, lower carbs; but you are right, the calorie is higher too.
I find however, that both kitties eat less of the EVO than the Orijen; perhaps because it is richer...
I am considering doing a 50/50 mix, just in case of a recall... you never know...
I do have a higher trust on Orijen as a company; no doubt about it. For me that is a pristine food.

I have switched mine between Orijen and EVO a few times but the last time EVO changed their formula, Bumper couldnt handle it, Orijen seems more stable. They like both of the Orijen formulas so we have been sticking with it. We fed Scully EVO against her opinion for years, he liked it and was doing well on it (after we got his diabetes under control through weightloss - he was on a diabetic food for a while).

So its more because Bumper does better than Magnum's need for less calories, I dont find they eat much more Orijen than EVO, and my vet knows I will feed what I think is best no matter what she says. She amused herself a few weeks back by listening as one of her new techs was telling me all about how great Science Diet is, she doesnt stock it at her clinic unless its a prescription diet not available by another brand so she wasnt impressed but knew I would give the tech a harder time than she would

Yep - here they like it equally... Momma like Orijen better

Last week I just found out I can switch back and forth without a problem... That was nice... I went from 100% EVO to 50/50 immediately and had no adverse effects... Maybe because the only protein is fish on both foods?
I was so pleasantly surprised I had no poopie butts to clean!

Tessie weighs in at 12lbs. I feed her EVO dry (measured) and grain free wet food.
She needs too loose another pound or 2. We are working on it

Before I begin, can I just say that the title of this thread just struck me as funny
.

I have four furry babies. Cassidy weighs in at about 12.5-13 pounds. She should weigh between 11-11.5 pounds and we're slowly working on getting her to that point (she's not overweight, but could stand to lost just a bit per my vet). Delaney weighs around 10.5-11 pounds and the vet says she's right where she should be. Emory weighs 10 pounds (never more, never less) and that weight is perfect for her. And, Finnegan, who is still growing as he's under 6 months old, is approximately 6 pounds. The vet thinks he'll top out at around 12-13 pounds and I agree, but we'll see how that goes as time goes on.

My cats are vet a 25% dry, 75% wet diet. Their dry food is Taste of the Wild and their wet food varies greatly. Cassidy eats a rotation of ZiwiPeak, Wellness Core, TOTW, EVO 95% Meat, and By Nature 95% Meat. The other cats and the kitten get a rotation of Merrick (I try for as many grain-free varieties as possible, but they are very picky with grain-free wet food), Wellness, By Nature, Natural Balance, Blue Buffalo, and EVO. I do have some Fancy Feast (including the appetizers) always on hand if they're particularly picky or as a treat as well as Purina Pro Plan for the same reason. My cats were initially very picky and refused most everything, but I've finally got them on a good diet (including some raw, but only as a treat a couple of times per week). It's what works for us and I'm thankful for that.
