New cat-guy from NC

Hi

I don't know if this goes here, but I wanted to present myself.

I'm 40 year old guy, Army Airborne Officer, among other things.
I come from a cat-loving family older than time. I grew up with cats and I've always lived with them, even as a baby so I've got tons of stories and things to say. They are my family and I can't be far from them for long. I live with two great felines; "Loony", a two year old 17 pound male yellow tabby, and a one and a half year old female "Luna" tabby/calico full of energy and always trying to get away with something!

I joined this forum mainly because I need to feel part of a community who loves cats, many times I feel really alone here and sometimes even angry because many people hate cats, even without knowing them at all. That really makes me angry! I don't want to feel alone with my cats.

I hope this is the place!

Hello to everyone!

First, I would like to say THANK YOU for your service to our country. God bless our military men and women everywhere. I love them all and appreciate what they do.

You certainly came to the right place. The folks here love their cats. I think I can safely say all the ones I have talked to consider their cats family members. I know I do. We have just lost our senior cat, Speedboat this week. We are devasted. But we have two other fur babies and we will keep on being committed to them. When I take in a cat, it is a lifetime deal, no excuses.

Enjoy the forums.

Yup you certainly came to the right place! I recently joined myself and am really enjoy everything about it. Welcome to you and your babies!

Welcome, Rod, Loony and Luna! You've come to the right place. All those things about being a cat person that make "other" people wonder about our sanity? -- perfectly normal here!

We'd love to hear your stories, and we're absolute gluttons for pictures. Make yourselves at home.

I'm going to move this thread over to New Cats, where more people will be looking for new members to welcome.

Welcome!

There are a number of "cat guys" on this forum, including me.

I'm a trucker, and, like you, I grew up with cats. I early learned to appreciate their many peculiarities and special traits.

It angers me, too, when I hear other guys call cats "the other white meat," and other comments invoking cruelty. I think anyone who can mistreat a cat shows a basic flaw in their character, one that should be carefully watched.

But we all love our furry friends here!

I'm sorry for your loss. It hurts so much when they go.

I lost Rausy, the last of my cat's to go two years ago to breast cancer, she was just a month short of 10 years of age. We fought for her life for more than a year.
I have never understood why such a short life span for such an advanced creature. Yes, some have lived over thirty years but it's not common.

Some say that one of the most important things cats teach us is that at best, life is short. Make the best of it right now!

Please do move it, I still don't know my way around here but I'll get the hang of it soon!

Welcome from another cat guy

Thank you for your service, we are indebted to you.

If you have any questions, please don't be afraid to ask. However if you've been around cats your whole life, I suspect you won't have any questions

Thank you for your words regarding my service, it's a job!

I've learned many things from cats though the years one of the most important ones is that you can never stop learning and asking questions about them.

Hi, and welcome! I am also in NC, the Eastern end.

Hey!!!

Yeah, we LOVE our kitties on here!! You will find this a friendly, active and informative community. I really enjoy it here.

I do understand about men and cats... they are considered "sissy" pets. I don't get that. Cats are amazing, independent creatures who are HIGHLY proficient hunters.

One of the things I love about my boyfriend is how HE is with the kitties. And he is ALL GUY!!

Hi Rod and welcome to TCS I know you will love it here, I do, well actually I'm a TCS addict, lol. It really is a great place and everyone is so kind. I look forward to chatting to you soon.x

Welcome to TCS! I've learned alot from here.

As a kid and teen I grew up around cats too
post #20 of 52
I also discovered this forum because there's no one to talk to about my cats. For some reason my guy friends have never really laughed at me about my cat obsession, which I guess is a good thing. Not that their opinion matters anyways

However they sometimes give me a weird look when I won't shut up about the cats

Hi, Rod!

Men may not make up a large percentage of this site, but we know they are out there and loving their kitties.

Just imagine, I'm in the Army among many tough guys, they don't hammer against cat's but they are not an issue either. I only know one other guy here that loves them, a pilot code signed "Crazy Cat", Lol.

There's nothing sissy about cats they are fantastic creatures!

WELCOME!!!!!!! You are now part of the best cat-family around.I thought I would go ballistic with all the eye-rolling, snickering, non-cat people in my life. Then I found this place and don't have time for themAnyway, you can say anything on your mind here. Cat people understand each other, for real. And THANK YOU for your service to us and our country. My nephew did a tour of duty in Iraq. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

Thank you for your comment.

I'm still only trying to understand how to navigate the site. it's really awesome for me to find people who share my love for cats. It will help me get rid of all the bad vibes from people who don't. And I do too speak all the time about my cat's and what they did today, yesterday and the day before etc.

I work with police/fire departments and I always talk about my cats and of course, put pictures of them on my computer desktop. A lot of the guys here are always talking about sports, me it's my cats and I love it. And I agree, they are fantastic creatures. Actually, I think I am the crazy cat guy

my hubby is a former Marine, and he ADORES our four cats (as do I). When are we going to see some picture of your babies?
