Siameselove03- thanks for all your thoughtful comments .I too am grateful for this forum this group. I was so frustrated last Wednesday night with Gracie needing another enema, I found this site somehow & the MiraLAX is working .she did however have colon manually cleaned out 3 1/2 -4 weeks ago. She got diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago and for three years it was just routine given her medicine. I do have to find a new vet . I've been working crazy hours .I'm going to try to research tomorrow morning or Monday .I'm just glad the MiraLAX is helping right now and she's eating her food with no fight. something she's real picky.
Stay in touch .I appreciate your guidance and I hope I can be helpful to you, too. several people that commented to me on earlier postings were really a good help.

Siameselove03- did you see my post from yesterday or Tuesday ?Gracie pooped on her own, bigger than anything I've ever seen come out of her other than with an enema and I am sure it's been the extra water with the canned food and MiraLAX .I was so excited I knew that this forum was only place I could cheer about it and people would understand my excitement .not everyone you can talk about cat poop with , right ?

I wish I was able to give my cell number out on here and email address but the site wrote me when I tried and told me I could not do it, if you know a way around it let me know would love to talk to you anyone for that matter than just confined through email...
Hi siameselove03,

You should PM people and ask them if they want to exchange contact info. The site just doesn't want you publicly posting your info, it's not a good move for your own safety.

Raintyger;

I totally understand that and protecting my safety is in my best interest I was just saying it would be nice to give that information I did not know about the PM or how it works or how to access it I am new to this site. If you can advise me how to do it I would appreciate it very much. The last two weeks when my cat was deathly ill I was desperate willing to talk to anyone that had advice to help me I hope that makes sense. I am not one to give out my cell number or email to just anyone but I was prepared to do it....

Katruble...Ditto Kiddo you are welcome I mean every word I am here for you anytime to help you as you are for me even to vent because it is upsetting I know first hand my friend. I don't know how to use PM on here I am new to this site if you can tell me I will give you my information so you can contact me anytime you need me. Keep doing the Miralax twice a day like I told you and wet can food only no dry anymore not with these issues. Research EVO 95 for you cat duck flavor is recommended or venison and turkey/chicken as a last resort....

Heyyyyy I know I read your posts thoroughly but and yes I read that part and just messaged you and did forgot to mention it, YES that is GREAT news do NOT change the regimen for Gracie as I said NO more dry food only wet canned the best stuff not Friskies you must invest in a canned food that is for Mega Colon and IBD as I said before. I give my cat fresh water several times a day with ice cubes she lovesss it cold and she drinks away she loves it that way. Heating your cats food also just a little to make it slight warm will entice her to eat it more than cold out the **** then again some cats don't care but my Siamese sure does...Remember when you buy the cans do research they must be low fiber, low carbs, grain free and high protein real meat 95% worth and it is costly but no choice in the matter...Any questions just ask I will help you all he way and give you advice my vet gives me....xxoo

Thanks again for info.  Sorry, I probably didn't read  all the message posted before. Sometimes on the iphone I miss stuff because the screen is too small.  Too lazy sometimes to turn on laptop. ;-)

Raintyger,

I just noticed your gave me some websites to check out which I did not see earlier and reread and saw it now, forgive me I am new at this and I seem to miss things thank god I go back and read...I saved those sites to my computer and really like the 2nd one. I don't know how to PM I tried to figure it out but don't know where to do it at. The vet said he wants her on "Duck" preferably or Venison but Duck is better. If you know of any food comparable to Evo 95 of low fiber, low cal, high protein with real meat content and grain free please let me know Id appreciate that...

To All Forum Feline Fellow Friends:)

As you all have read, my cat has been converted to only wet canned food, no dry kibble anymore. She is 11 1/2 years  old almost 13 lbs and I am feeding her a half of 5.5 oz can (tunafish size can) at 6am and the other half of can at 6pm so twice a day which equals one whole can a day she eats. I am feeding her the correct amount? Is that to much or is that to little of an amount to feed her?? Sometimes she cries for more half way through the day and other times she is content.

Please advise me on the proper amount of wet canned food to feed my cat, I would appreciate this.

Karin...

The AVERAGE amount is one 5.5 oz. can/day, but that is for a 10 lb. cat and it also depends on the amount of calories in the can. Some brands can be only half the amount of calories as others. Can you find that out? Or can you post the brand?

Raintyger.....You are my knight in shining armor:) Yes I have the cans right here....

Evo 95 Duck flavor...Crude Protein 7.5%...Crude Fat 10.0%...Crude Fiber 1%...Moisture 78.0%...Vitamin E 100/IU/kg...Calorie Content: 1389.4 kcal/kg... and 216.7 kcal/can

Evo 95 Chicken & Turkey flavor mixed...Crude Protein 9%...Crude Fat 10.0%...Crude Fiber 1.0%...Moisture 78.0%...Vitamin E 100/IU/kg...Calorie Content: 1349.8 kcal/kg and 210.6 kcal/can

The back of the can says to feed the cat one can per 7lbs per day?? I just weight my cat and she weighs: 13 lbs....That is weird Monday she was 12.2 at the vet and Saturday 5 days later she is up to 13lbs??

So if I went by this 7lb rule that means I should be feeding her a can in a half??? Check your PM....

Siameselove03- Gracie is 14.2 lbs. and she gets two cans of fancy feast a day which is 3 ounces . I realize it is a different product than her duck food but I just thought I would share that with you .the vet that I used to have .her kitty had mega colon & that was what she was getting .the main thing is your vet can give you a breakdown of weight per calories needed and that should help you some .good luck.

You need about 20-30 calories/day to maintain weight. So that means 280-420 calories a day or 1-1/3 to 2 cans/day. The exact amount will depend on the metabolism and level of activity. Neutered/spayed cats also need less calories on average. If you know the amount of calories she was getting from her previous food, you can estimate from there. Even if you feed her the same amount of calories, though, she'll probably lose a little weight on wet because the carb content is lower.

Hooray! I was in the Yahoo! feline megacolon and chronic constipation group for a while and the general consensus was that Miralax was better. Members felt it was more effective and loved the fact that it is OTC and cheap to boot.

Have some good time off!

Do you mean how to change your avatar?

Sorry, can't help you with the iPhone. I am the last person on earth without a mobile phone. There is technical help under the forum "General Forums...Site Help".

Katruble...Good morning from sunny Florida:) 3 ounces are the smallest cans which 2 of those small cans you feed Gracie equals about one 5.5oz can or close to it as to what I am feeding my cat right now. I give 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening which is one whole can total. Sometimes in between her 6am and 6pm feeding I may give her a tablespoon to hold her over, wet food don't keep them as full as dry food does it seems or at least not with my cat. Ill just have to watch her weight...I am taking her to the vet today I am not happy, she has not had a poop in 5 days today being the 5th day even on the new feed so I am upset feeling like this is never going to change. She is happy as a pig in mud doesn't seem bothered not having gone poo but it is not normal. Regardless of food it boils down to motility. She had one small nugget in her box this morning it was not hard it was not soft it was like clay you can mold it very strange. This clay type stool is what he cleaned out of her last week when he did the flush so I am just down in the dumps. I thought the new food low fiber would change everything and it didn't. She also vomited all over her cat bed:( I just washed it out with the hose outside now washing it in the machine...I take her at 330 today and see what the vet says..

I am glad your cat is doing much better I pray it continues...I know the feeling about not wanting to go away and leave your cat I am the same way because of all the meds she is on and the miralax its hard to trust her in anyone's hands hence why I haven't gone anywhere...Enjoy your trip and have fun....

Raintyger; My cat is fixed and has always been an indoor cat never has gone outside and wont so at almost 12 she is a lazy girl but rounds around the house like a kitten from time to time. I don't understand the can stuff or what to feed a cat this wet food thing is all new to me. The ingredients I posted above is what was on the can for both duck and chicken & turkey mix. I have a few cans left of the chicken/turkey mix and once I am done with that I will use only duck which will be in a few days. I don't know the amount of calories she was getting from her previous dry food. It was by Royal Canin Fiber Response food if you are able to research it and tell me. This wet food is low fiber and low carb maybe so she don't gain a ton of weight I don't know I don't understand this at all...I am not happy taking her to the vet today, today is 5 days no poop yet but a tiny nugget that was like clay you can mold it so it wasn't hard or soft. Something is not right and it is upsetting plus she vomited this morning to...
