This is my favorite photo of my RB kitty Smokey. I may try to scan it in again to get better quality, but this is it for now.

Ripper:

Ripper stopped coming home one day, and we learned shortly after that the Humane Law Enforcement of the ASPCA had arrested a guy in our neighborhood for poisoning the local cats.

Trooper:

Trooper was Milo's brother. The queen who was fostering them rejected Trooper, bit him in the back and he ended up with Pneumothorax at only two weeks old. I loved him dearly for the 7 weeks he was with me. He was recovering well but one night he left the bed got under foot when my boyfriend was getting ready for work. Trooper had a bad habit of walking under foot, following us when he wanted attention and Dave thought he was safe with me so all the lights were still off as to not wake me up. The local 24 hour emergency hospital did everything they could for him but he was still weak from recovering from the bite wound and collapsed lung. Sadly he didn't respond to the medications they tried.

It will be hard, but what a loving tribute. I'm trying to remember all the happiness my RB kitty brought into my life. I was pretty young when he crossed (so was he) but I won't ever forget him. He gave me a scar as he was dying to ensure it. I'll have to have DH scan his picture so I can submit it.
I think that all the RB kitties will be chosen (if I read the other thread posted about this month correctly, which I read after I had posted my first post). It's going to be a tribute, not a contest. I am glad because I don't think I could choose.

Oh, I understood that. It's going to be a collage of ALL the kitties entered but a single member is limited to 3 entries and some of our rescue meowmies have so many more than just 3 special RB kitties.

Ah, I get it now. Thanks for the clarification. Yes, it will be hard for some to narrow it down to three. I wonder if there could be a separate calendar specifically for RB kitties?

Honestly, I was thinking about that; and is something to consider for the future. I hate that there has to be any limit, because I know our hearts don't have a limit, but I wanted to make sure the collage pics would be big enough to be seen clearly for every kitty.
I really hope it doesn't seem heartless.

Heidi, not at all! I think it's a great idea. I know you and the other mods work really hard on the calendar (as on the site in general), and no one could think you heartless (in fact, from what I've read, you are quite the opposite--full of heart). I know that you have to make some guidelines. I was just tossing an idea out there. I'm sorry. I am very appreciative of all that you do for The Cat Site. I think you and the mods on this site are top-notch.

Not heartless at all Heidi

Although I have lost many cats over the years and loved them all, the 3 I posted are the 3 that were closest to my heart

I don't usually enter photos here at TCS but I would like to submit Simba's photo. Simba is the reason I came to TCS - he went into hiding when we got him home and I needed advice/help. I followed TCS advice and although Simba hid for a full month behind our headboard, he turned out to be the cuddliest, most affectionate cat you could imagine. He died 5 years ago and I blame myself for not noticing that he had been losing weight. RIP my sweet boy.

My baby boy, Jazz.

It's been nearly a year and a half, but I still think about him all the time. Jazz lived to be 14 years old and was a gift from my mother who died 13 years ago. I always felt a connection to my mother, who instilled her love of cats into me, through Jazz. Ironically enough, this is one of the last pictures I took of him, as an angel, dressed up for Halloween.

Oliver, who went to the bridge on December 12, 2005 at the age of ~7.

This is the picture that, when Whisky saw it on the monitor, he looked at me, meowed and touched the screen with his paw.

This is my third submission. Her name was Confetti, she was a stray with three kittens. My daughter and her husband found them on a very rainy evening while leaving work. We kept Confetti while my daughter kept one kitten and found a home for the other two. She was with us for 12 years and was a wonderful companion.

This is Mithril. We adopted her from the shelter in February of 2008. She was with us for about two weeks, and she spent most of that time at the vet's. She was so horribly sick, it's hard to even think about it. I prefer to remember her like this. She slept with us the first night we brought her home. I wish she had made it. I think Bamf and Pixel would have liked her.
She died from Panleukopenia, or Feline Distemper.

I forgot how to make the picture appear in the body of the post. Sorry about that. I will come back to this and fix it!

In the meantime, I just want to say these are all such wonderful stories of our babies that we have loved and lost. I feel so connected to everyone here since we have all lost beloved fur babies, whether cherished family members or sad rescues.

Here is a pic of my adored Napoleon, with a very characteristic expression. It is at original size, but cropped slightly.

I took this picture exactly three years ago today. Link goes to a bigger version.

RIP
Chilsa
????? - March 3, 2009

I hope it's still OK to enter this if I'm not sure Chilsa's waiting for me--he was so friendly that he must have had at least one other special person before me, and (especially since he was a stray) it could be that they went on before him, so he might have gone straight to them. But...I hope he waits for me...I miss my overgrown kitten and I want to see him again someday
