Thank you for the updates and thank you to all of those who worked so hard to rescue Hope's cats from the shelter and get them to safe places.

I am very worried about Simba. Are they (the family) absolutely sure he is not still in the apartment? Many of us know from personal experience how well frightened cats can hide in even the tiniest of places. I know of one other case where the cat was thought to have escaped outside only to be found dead in a rarely used closet. The cat probably died of dehydration. I don't want to read later on TCS that this happened to Simba. Is there anyway to check?

I am constantly amazed by the nature of this web community. I am overwhelmed by the care and commitment of the people involved to find out what really happened, pull these cats from an ignominious fate and set them on the path to new happy homes.

Vibes for Simba! I sincerely hope that someone took him in!

The officer in charge at LAAS told me they had been out to Hope's apartment 3 times and Simba could not be found.
I also spoke to Hope's sister when they were in LA to take care of her belongings. I pressed her to search high and low for Simba. Susan also pressured them to do the same.
They assured us they had checked out every possibility. We have to take their word for it. At this point I don't think anything more can be done.

Susan was a star in all this - I don't know how many phone calls she made to the US with only limited waking hours to be able to do it!

I would also like to add that Kimberly was amazed at not only how gorgeous Angel was, but what an amazing personality she had, especially given all the stress she's been through. She was afraid of nobody, and just assumed everyone who met her was going to love her
Kimberly said:

She charmed everyone at Delta Cargo yesterday as she cooed and preened in her carrier … they were all snapping photos
This is testament to how Nial raises his cats, and the fact he wanted her back as soon as he found out Hope had passed away, and was willing to also take Simba, shows his good ethics as a breeder. Good job Nial

I am so proud of all your work; Susan, Nial and Sarah, and proud to be part of such a wonderful community
It's really amazing the love we feel for each others kitties that we have never met
I am sad about Simba, but he has an angel in Heaven looking out for him wherever he is
Many vibes for the kitties to find good loving homes (

Ok. I hope someone took him in, gives him a loving home and cherishes him as much as Hope did.

It sounds as if the rescue has experience:

Once the approval process is completed and a Siamese has been selected, we will work with you to arrange transport for your new Meezer. We have several methods for transporting our Cats. While not required, we do hope that you would be able to participate in the transport to some degree.
Angel already has two coast-to-coast trips under her belt; perhaps Shane and SunLee could also be flown.

Wow, what an adventure for everyone! It's very great to know the team work behind all this and big
to all involved. But, after being a member of this site for the last number of years, it doesn't surprise me one bit that there was this much help going on!
You know Hope would be thrilled to know how you all helped out on her behalf.

I also hope Simba is in caring hands. What a scary time it must have been for all the cats with all the commotion.

If I didn't have Steve and Gigi I would certainly step up to adopt the remaining cats. All Hope's cats were just beautiful.

I'll be making a donation as soon as it's financially possible for us.

wow, some really loving caring people on this site!
Glad Hope's cats were taken care of, she loved them very much.
I agree, this is a lesson to have your affairs in order for your pets. I have a written document, but actually I think I need verbal to many members because what happens in the event the family doesn't get to cleaning or looking at anything until weeks later?

Susan, Nial and Sarah and all involved with this change of events, you are angels

I started to cry when I first read this post. It is an eye opener, if anything happened to me and my husband our families would be more concerned with looting our place than the cats. My mother is old and to far away, my sister would put them to sleep, and my husbands kids are only concerned with what they can get from their dad in $$. I would leave our entire estate to the cats future care.

I pray that Simba is in good hands and is well taken care of.

My eyes are full of tears reading through this thread; my heart aches for Simba especially, and I pray that he is in a safe place being taken care of.

Susan, you really ARE an angel. What you did from over the pond certainly is WAY above and beyond what most people would do, and Sarah, you were wonderful for stepping in to do as much as you could on your end, too. I thank you both from the bottom of MY heart, for whatever that's worth.
I know for sure that Hope can rest a little easier knowing the great lengths you went through to make sure her babies were taken care of.

I haven't spoken to Nial since before Angel was flown back to him, so I'm really happy to hear that Angel is now safe in his care. How I wish my own financial circumstances would allow me to take her in, but sadly, they don't, otherwise I would gladly take her into my home. I have faith that Nial and Teri will find a loving home for her.

But again, oh, my heart aches for that willful boy, Simba, and I'll be sending him lots of that wherever he is he is safe and being fed and watered and loved.

These wonderful people did amazing things behind the scenes to get this done as you can imagine.

We mods have been worrying very much about Simba as well and have been in or near to tears many times. I couldn't be more proud to be a member of such a wonderful community as TCS. The goodness and kindness of members here is astounding for an online site of folks that only know each other through a computer.

I have added Simba to my prayers as well. I also pray that someone loving and caring took him in and he is getting the love he deserves.

I was so very touched and humbled reading this thread because it just amazes me that this community is so very caring. Most other forums would not have gone above and beyond to help a person they may have never met.

Nial, Susan, and Sarah have all been angels for Hope.
Susan - you really are amazing and shows that cats really are family so you did what Hope could not and that was to make sure they found news homes - and that meant finding out the truth. Nial - you were so gracious in taking Angel back and making sure she finds a wonderful home. Sarah - you made this all possible! Without you, these wonderful babies would still have been in a place they never should have been and their fates unknown.

It is such a blessing to know that if something is really wrong or someone needs help that there are friends to be found here.

I still worry for Simba. I hope that he is ok and has found a home. Good Job everyone!

Re: carinpg for your pets after you're gone or if you're incapacitated -- PUT IT IN WRITING!

Designate a caretaker or caretakers to be contacted IMMEDIATELY upon your passing or incapacitation. Make sure you are in contact regularly with these persons or person. Maybe your vet clinic or a rescue; designate money for their care. This has been a real eye opener for me!

I am amazed at how the members reacted so quickly.
Also, worried for poor Simbs wherever he is, he must be scared.

Both Nial and myself told them that they should basically turn the apartment upside down to look for him, because Nial explained to them how Simba was small for a Bengal so he could be hiding up in the sofa or the box springs?. I also told Hope's brother how i remember when Hope first brought Sun Lee home, and she hid behind the fridge for several days before coming out, so he needs to check there as well. But like Nial said, we had to take their word that they did it being where we were.

This was an ordeal that i don't want to happen again for a long while, but i would do it again in a heartbeat.

As i said to Hope's family. Hope left for a better place the morning she died, but her poor cats had no one, and now they were priority!.

I've shed so many tears since all this happend just thinking of them all alone in the shelter, especially when i looked at their little faces in Hope's pictures.

Nial, Sarah, i wish we could have spoke for the first time on the telephone under better circumstances. I've always been proud of TCS and it's members, but after this it goes above and beyond, so again, thank you both so much for everything you did, including your contacts Sarah.

I've said this before and i'll say it again. Weve got the best site when it comes to our beloved cats and members!!

Oh well, it was nice that we got to help each other out.

And I loved listening to both your and Nial's accents - could have listened all day
