Adding more for Maisie &
for you!

I am so sorry that Maisie is now sick! My heart sank seeing this thread. I am hoping she is have a bad IBD episode and you can get her on track quickly.
Do the vets there give cyproheptadine to help stimulate appetite with IBD cats? It works great and is a great help in getting them to eat ( as long as they are not vomiting).
Lots and lots of for Monday's vet visit

Do her pupils look normal?
Cocos were large so the vet checked for high bp and she has it.
They also told me thyroid problems can cause high bp.
Cocos came out a little low.
I hope your cat will be ok.
Prayers for her to get better.

Linny i'm just seeing this now
Is there a marks and spencers store near you Linny?. My three have their large cans of luxury mackeral, and the luxery tuna. It stinks because theres proper chunks of fish in a jelly, but they love it.
Lots of mega healthy coming for the poor baby

Maisie's bloodwork looks like my Stomper's when he gets a pancreatitis/IBD attack. I had bloods drawn 12 days apart and he went from perfect center range of normal to LFTS high.
He also starts vomiting and stops eating. Sometimes gets the IBD diarrhea, but not often. For him it seems to attack his small intesting close to his stomach.
The CK is only a little high and that can happen with a difficult blood draw or a stressed kitty, so don't worry about that one.

I don't know if this will help Maisie at all but this is Stomper's standard treatment and it helps when he gets in Maisie's condition.
Cyproheptadine (appetite stimulant) twice daily. I put it in a gel cap so it doesn't taste icky and make him drool. Unfortunately it is a pill and not easy for hard to pill cats.
Prednisolone. 5mg 2x daily until symptoms improve then start to taper down. This time he is staying on 5 mg once daily because he crashes when we go lower.
Metronidazole we used to do this one but it tastes really nasty and it makes him even less likely to eat. Plus it doesn't seem to help him so we don't do this anymore.
Cyanocobalamin (SC injection) just started this B12 protocal from TAMU. Stomper really responds well to the B12. So I got a bottle from the vet today and we will start the protocal. Studies show it helps tremendously in cats that have malabsorption and weight loss due to IBD. Protocal can be found here http://www.cvm.tamu.edu/gilab/resear...in.shtml#Intro
Hoping you have found something to get Maisie to eat.

Fingers crossed you can find something, and that the vet can get to the bottom of it. I highly recommend HiLife tuna and salmon (sold in individual pouches, it is one of the few old style ones left, so it is complimentary, but excellent for cats that are being fussy to eat). There are lots of brands of stinky fish foods available these days.
absolutely right. that is cruel to keep you waiting like that.Originally Posted by Rosiemac
Linny, stress with them in a nice way that when they say their going to ring you they do just that, because it's worrying enough as it is, especially when you've just lost Kitty
We are hoping that the B12 is going to help him gain weight. Right now, he eats the same as my other cat that weighs 14 pounds, but Stomper only weights 10.5 lbs. He is very bony too, can even feel the bones in his headJaffacake;2557129 Thank you![img said:https://statich.thecatsite.com/images/smilies/hugs.gif[/img] That was very interestingI`m going to write those meds down and ask the vet. Do they help Stomper gain weight?
When Maisie had the steroid depot she ate really good and maintained her weight but was still very boney? Not sure if that is because of age. She does seem generally weak even when she is 'well'.
She did have terrible runny poo for a long time when I first had her but that seems to be under control.
Hmmm, I looked at that and it looks a lot more like Maisies eyes than the pics I`ve seen of cataracts. Her pupils only contract when she is outside in summer in direct sunlight. She always looks cross because her pupils are bigOriginally Posted by mews2much
Are those how her pupils look in sunlight or when its darker?
Coco eyes have that look also.
She has Lenticular Sclerosis besides the high bp.
Here is what it is http://www.petplace.com/cats/lenticu...ats/page1.aspx
I hope your vet calls you back soon.
Coco pupils were big in daylight and that why she was checked for high bp.
I hope something helps your cat soon and she feels better.

I hope you have heard back from the vet today. I would be fuming mad too. This is so hard to deal with in the first place, to not get result information back is rude and hurtful.
:hugs and still coming your way!
