Currently, I'd be willing to work ANYTHING
Our hours at work are profit-dependent, which means in a crappy economy they get cut. Usually in the summer I'm working full-time, but instead I'm working less than 30 hours

I certainly would, as long as I was able to keep myself busy for those 10 hours
Right now I'm having a hard time staying busy for 8
I just do my work entirely too quickly!

I used to do that at an old job, and I liked it a lot. I like my current arrangment, though. I telecommute and work from home one day a week...still regular lenghth days, but one less day of getting dressed up and fighting traffic.

I'd do it in a nano-second. It takes me an hour each way to get to work and back home so once I'm here another hour or two isn't going to be a big deal but to have an extra day off would be a big deal. Yup, I'd love to do it.

I was on TCS for a few minutes at work, and as soon as I said my boss was out playing basketball during his lunch so I could surf TCS, he walked back in.

I forgot to mention, once it picks up where I work, I'll be working five 12+ hour days - the overtime is nice though!
For normal times though the four 10 hour days would be awesome. They used to do that for people on salary, but they ended up phasing it out. They had the option of 4 10s or 5 8s

I've been going into work four days a week for over a decade. Unfortunately, that only means that I actually teach classes four days a week; I still have to work at home for at least two additional days (preparing lessons, correcting homework or tests). Since my commute is 2+ hours a day, it's a blessing to not have to go in every single weekday.

I would do it in a heartbeat! I have a weird work schedule anyways, and work sometimes 6 days in a row, anywhere from a 6 hour to 14 hour shift.

I worked 12 hour shift for about 5 years. While it sounds good on on paper, it wasn't so good in practice as a nurse. A nurse's job is not only physically demanding, but mentally as well, and it's not uncommon to have such a busy shift that you're lucky if you get to sit down to have lunch. There were shifts I spent the entire 12 hours so busy that I was meeting myself coming around corners and didn't even get a coffee break, let alone a lunch break.

And on the days I worked I literally had no life. Factoring in sleep, personal time, meal preparation, time to get ready for work and for bed, and travel time to and from work, there really isn't a lot of time for anything else, and I was so wiped from work that the only thing on my mind was how sore my feet were and how tired I was.

So I guess it depends on the type of job you have. Working 12 hours at a desk is a lot less demanding that working 12 hours where you are mostly running around and standing on your feet.

So long as I do nursing I'll never go back to 12 hour shifts unless it's in a position of management where I am not responsible for 6 to 10 patients on my shift.

Yes! Both my sister and I have had a chance to do that. My sister did it for 7 years and I had the chance to do the 4 day work week for one year. It was great getting all your errands/shopping/appointments taken care of on the Friday and having the weekend for yourself.

The downside, is not being able to do much during the evenings during the week because of the extended hours. Also, it can be a little draining, since the days are extended.

Most of the year, we DO work 4 days per week. As Christmas gets closer, they add days on so we're working 6 days per week the last couple of weeks.

definitely - depending on the right job, i wouldn't mind it at all. I always wound up working extra hours at my old job anyways so i know it wouldn't be a big deal.

Earlier this year, I worked for a painting company and we would be given a certain day that the houses should be done by. Me and my crew were interior and since this was the first year that the company did interior my boss wasn't all that great at doing the estimates. As a result, he would usually give us less time than it would take so we would have to work longer just to get it done by the time the customer wanted. With one house, we actually had to pull a 20-hour shift to finish it up and then be back at another house four hours later.

Actually, that is the schedule that I work. I work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday....10 hour days. In the O.R. where I work, we had the choice of signing either 4/10's or 3/12's. There were no 8 hour/day positions available. I chose the schedule that I have, over the rotating day off (a four day weekend every 5 weeks) because I thought it would be easy to work 2 days in a row, then have a day off. Now that I've taken an administrative position, I end up going in to work on Wednesdays fairly frequently, for committee meeting, etc. I also still have to be on call a minimum of one day a week, and one weekend a month.....so I always end up working more than 40 hours a week.

i would do it in a heartbeat. i worked retail all my life and always ended up working over-time, especially in a bookstore.never enough time or room to put stuff. so 2 hours more a day wouldn'd have bothered me.

I don't find 10 hours bad, it's what i usually do anyway but 6 days a week

When i work 10 hours a day i don't spend one day sleeping, I only do that when i work 16 hours a day, then i waste the weekend away.

Today is Sunday, and I have to go into work to prepare an intensive course that i have this week! So literally depending on which job you have it can be 24/7 because you are constantly thinking of what to do for tomorrow or next week.
