Topaz? She won't let me measure it. Probably 9-10 inches.

Wow! I just love a long fluffy tail

LOL @ tail envy, hehe

I wonder if Riley's tail will keep growing with the rest of his body?

Will measure tonite. DH was remarking the other day that Charlie should win the "longest tail" award
I'm guessing he's well over a foot. What's the prize for the kitty with the longest tail?

And he's only 8 months!

Will have to measure the crew...

Of the kitties I could find...

Tabitha (11 months old)- 12 inches
Spooky Bear (almost 10 months old) - 11 inches
Spike (4 months old) - 11 inches
and the baby kitties are all between 5-7 inches

Fun thread.

I had a hard time measuring Riley too because he thought I was trying to play and that the tape measure was a toy.

Hmm, longest tail prize is a gift from the tcs vbplaza! lol.

I know. Actually she is annoyed at having the camera in her face.

LOL, Carmelo has an unfair advantage!

The domestic kitty with the longest tail wins

Right now we have a 3-way tie of 14 inches.

If nobody can beat that by tomorrow, then they will all win!

Charlie (10 months old) - 12 3/4 inches

Ling (2 yrs old) - only 8 inches

For a "kinked" tail - add about 1/4 inch

Just curious if the longer tailed cats (12-14 inches) are siamese/oriental or have those breeds in them. Oci's are from aby/siamese so it makes sense for them to have a longer tail.

I remember measuring Spooky's tail long time ago (my rex) - he had about 14-15 inch tail - he was long and tall. The tail was pretty long/whippy too. My first cat, Mitten from nose to tail was 35 inches long (about 12/13 inches was his tail).

But Carmelo isn't wild. He's very tame and loving and downright cute.

If I can get Ari to slow down I'll remeasure his tail to see if it's any longer since I measured it (sometime before April 2006).

Adilah still has to submit hers.

GoldenKitty45....to answer your question.

Siam is a siamese mix. A seal lynx point. Stripey face, legs, tail, with dark points.

Seb 12 inches (30.48 cm)
Daphne 10 inches (25.4)

These are approximate
Daphne wanted to eat the tape and Seb looked at me like I was insane

How on earth are you guys getting your cats to a) keep their tails still enough to measure and b) not try to swipe at the tape measure? Do you have compliant cats or an accomplice holding them down?

Jaffa is about to have me certified as insane. I think his tail is about 13-14 inches long but I can't be more accurate than that! Mosi's is a bit shorter (but fluffier) so his is probably 11-12 inches.

My cats are definitely not going to be compliant so I will go the 'accomplice' route and my answers will have to wait until Nate is home from work I really do not want to have to take Radar to the vet to have tape measure surgically removed from his intestines, I'm always removing things from that cat's mouth! I know that Radar has a very long tail in comparison to his size, but it probably won't win this competition as he is so small all over, only 7 1/2 lbs!
