Maybe do a Google search of "romatic getaways around Memphis TN"? Or look for B&Bs like you said? I think that might be a good idea, but don't make it too "girly"....make sure you do some "macho" stuff for Colin, too!

I was thinking something along the lines of a romantic cabin in the woods (but with full ammenities (sp?)) something for us to just get away from everthing and enjoy each other's company

I don't like camping either! Why sleep somewhere that's worse than my own bed? I thought everyone else in the world loved it!

lol come on, where is your sense of fun.
how could life get any better then a bed roll, using your saddle as a pillow, hugging your rifle in the wide open spaces, under the stars, listen to the the sounds of night, wolf howlings, wind blowing, bears rudding on tress,

gee you people are no fun

Don't forget the mosquitos and rocks! I don't know what that bear is doing to that tree but I'd much rather be inside.

Sorry to hijack!

Exactly! I wouldn't mind trying it for just one night (just for the adventure - with TONS of bug repellant) but anymore than that and i think i'd REALLY miss my home
I definitely wouldn't want to try it on my birthday though

how about taking him out to a nice restaurant? someplace you don't regularly go. i know my hubby is always bugging me about certain restaurants he likes.

going out to dinner is one of our "things" on our birthdays and anniversary.

Boy do I feel your pain

Dave and I are both turning 21 this june, his birthday is this sunday (father's day), and mine is the 29th. What are we doing for the birthdays?

Well, we're going to hang out with his sister at a local strip with arcades, bars, a small waterpark, that kind of thing on friday night. Saturday I don't know what we're doing, and Sunday I'm going to either make or buy him a cake and make his favorite dinner, lasagna! He won't tell me what he wants, and he really isn't that into birthdays either. I did get him a video game that he wanted though.

For my birthday he already got me a really nice mp3 player. He's also buying our season tickets to the medieval faire (and tickets for the dogs, too
) and we're going to either go to the zoo or the natural history museum for the day.

Maybe you two could spend one day of the weekend doing something you like (i.e. amusement park) and the other day something he likes (for my SO, that would be something like video gaming together, having a bunch of friends over for Halo, going swimming, something like that). I was also thinking of taking a canoe ride with a picnic at the end, maybe that's something you guys could do?

we are planning to go out to dinner (neithor of us want to cook on our birthday
) but i'm not sure where yet! thanks for the idea- i should start looking into a resturant we've never been to before. that'll be fun to do too!

I like that idea
I'm going to see if i can get my birthday off (and the day after it) by swapping out days with a coworker if they'll let me so i don't have to work on my birthday. if i do get it off i'm going to tell him to take those days off too
(he's got a ton of comp time and can take off pretty much whenever he wants because he does soooo much over time)
It'd be nice to go somewhere inexpensive and just explore a new city for a bit and check out little dive resturants/ go for a walk/etc

i don't gamble at all- i refuse to go to casinos and even support that in any way so i probably wouldn't go. BUT i wouldn't mind getting hitched by a little Vegas Elvis
Although it seems funny to go to Vegas to get hitched by a little Elvis when i live in Memphis

You realise now that Norris can jump on your marital bed
that is the ultimate present for Colin
that he's been able to get around so much. I think what you should do is get some naughty lingerie, put it in a cute box, make Norris hop up on the bed and curl up asleep and put the little box next to him. Then get a bone shaped tag and write on it "from mummy" and stamp a little paw print on there

weeeeeeee

oh god can i go back to sleep?

something similar worked when i talked him into keeping Kojak

Living in Wisconsin as I do (aka "the drinking state") does he enjoy wine, brandy, whiskey, vodka rum etc that you could buy a premium bottle???
I think Bruce has a good idea on the Vegas trip-when I went to Vegas last time I only spent a couple of $$ on gambling but many $$ on shopping, eating drinking and having a good time!!
