From The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

"Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard."

Right on! Philly born and bred, even though I make a conscious effort not to pronounce "water" as "wooder"!

Your Result: The Midland

This was followed by Philadelphia and the Inland North...so probably close!

Thank you! That's one thing that drives me nuts here!

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

No, you can have a "pop".

Inland North here also:
You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

Yes, I'm from Chicago.

Funny! I left Minnesota for Seattle 12 years ago, and would not have thought I still had an accent! Huh.

I took this test on another board and did it again and it came out the same.

I guess being from San Antonio ( a big southern city) is why.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Interesting...I'm from NW Indiana originally, so I'm surprised it didn't come back with Inland North (Chicago area). It came back as Midland. *shrug* All my friends have told me that I have a Chicago accent (I say Chicaaago) and I say pop as well.

Guess all that English-learnin beat the accent out of me, lol.

I got The Midland

Which is funny b/c I'm born and raised in Virginia. Never lived anywhere else. Mom's from Mississippi and Dad from Va. Don't know how I got a Western Accent
