FYI for those asking why they couldnt meet. without giving it away. I *THINK* it has to do with the job the boat is supposed to do.. the ferrying and such. so one doesnt get all..squidy

but...thats my rationing..lol

The end credits clip was great

I don't think that traditionally he is suposed to leave davy jones locker, if i understand the situation. and she can't be there, disgregarding certain... people... that allowed her to go the first time. beside, if i remember correctly no mortal is suposed to be on the Flying Dutchman, despite recent events. the balence was off so things were happening that i don't think are strictly allowed. lots of people agree with your sentiment though.

totally. so she is in the same boat (figurativly) as him with the immortal thing? she has to be, cause otherwise the logistics wouldn't work.

It was a good movie, though... I'm just not sure what I think about that particular part of the story.
Ahoy! Thar be spoilers!!!

(highlight to see what I'm writing. Don't if you don't want to be spoiled. The text is in white)

The ending sort of leaves out one tiny detail: When Calypso and DJ were having their affair and DJ had the same deal, it was such that if Calypso waited 10 years faithfully, DJ would no longer b beholden to the Dutchman. Calypso didn't keep to her end of the bargain, so DJ became beholden and apparently evil and had a squid grow on his face. If you saw the scene after the credits, we learn that Elizabeth makes good on her end of the bargain. This is really cryptically implied throughout the movie...Disney had a scene that explained this flat-out but it was cut for time and will likely make it on to the DVD since the ending is researching poorly. This also leaves room open for a fourth which is in talks to be released summer 2009.

I'm not obsessed with all things Disney at all!

I just saw it, and I have to say it wasn't that great. Don't get me wrong the first one was amazing, the second was dull, but this one just didn't do anything for me.

However, I am looking froward to: Harry Potter, Transformers, and Run Fat Boy Run.

My DH and I saw it yesterday (matinee of course @ $6.00 a pop) and totally LOVED IT!!! In the 5 years we've been together we have been to the movies 3 times - POTC 1, Once apon a time in Mexico, and this one - hmmmm... is it a coincidence that they are all Johnny Depp movies?

The 3 hours flew by. This is the first time I can remember not getting popcorn at a movie. I just couldn't bring myself to pay $4.50 for a small & then you need a small drink to wash it down for $3.50. I was so into the movie though, I didn't even miss it.

sweet i wonder how long the saga will go? and i was under the impression that it was for eternity, that she would wait and he would ferry, and then the one day thing.

lol, jake got a drink at the beginning but he was being selfish and didn't want to share. about the time the movie started he pulled out his wallet to give us some money to get stuff. i looked at the screen, looked at him and said "ooohhhh noooo. that is so not gonna happen. you are out of your mind" i gave him the money back and then he tried to hand it off to cait and she was gonna go then i pointed out to her that the movie was starting. she had the same reaction i did. lol. we can deal w/o snacks for 3 hours. he gave in as the movie went along but still. he actually expected us to miss part of the movie. he's nuts.

I was mega excited about seeing No 3 as we (the whole family) all loved the first 2. My nine year old became quite sick about three quaters of the way through and I had to take her home so I guess we missed the last 30 mins or so.
I have to admit to not being that bothered about missing the end. I think it just felt a bit too long.
Maybe I was more pre occupied with my daughter who was turning more and more green as the movie went on, or maybe it was that I just didnt think it was that good.
I will happliy get the DVD when it comes out but I am not in a rush to find out what happened.
All in all, a disappointing evening

Well, they filmed the 2nd and 3rd back to back....any normal human being would want to quit (and Johnny Depp has clearly demonstrated on more than one occassion that he's not a normal human being. He's much too hot to be normal, also). They'll give her a year off and offer her a boatload of money, or they'll leave her character stranded on the island with that kid.

I just hope they put an alternate ending, or at least that scene, on the DVD. Then I can just make-believe everything is going to be all right! Seriously....I thought Disney had the market cornered on happy endings! Way to let me down!

Eh. Most performing artists want to quit at 21, 22, 23...it's a phase we all go through. Although, she's a) a movie star which is probably much more stressful and b) not starving.

Am I the only one that wanted Will and Elizabeth to have a few more quality moments together at some point in the movie? Or am I the only mushy sap who likes the kissing?
I seriously wasn't really that engaged in the whole love story until this one for some reason. But...I wanted moooore!

And....Orlando looks like a girl. Or a Backstreet Boy. :runs away and hides behind something so people will not hurt her. tee hee!:

I liked the 2nd one the most, the 3rd one was cool but I still like the 2nd one the most... and yep it was hilarious to see Jack and Barbosa together on the ship

Eh, since we're living in fantasy land... um.. I'll just take both and have the best of everything.

Yeah, I was a little ticked at the whole Will/Elizabeth thing, even though I'm not really fond of her character.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised by Disney in terms of its heroines a lot of the time (less impressed with the racial stereotyping they sometimes indulge in)...we had Belle who read and was presumably highly educated, Mulan who joined the military and dressed like a man to do so, and Elizabeth who they had no problem calling the "Pirate King" and putting her in dirty battles and again, men's clothing.

I also could not get the song from Pirates of Penzance (the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta) about the "pirate king" out of my head during that part!

And...despite the fact that I only found Will attractive when he was all dirty and/or wet...his character is so cliche and moral and mooshy that its almost reflexive to root for him. Seriously. Probably why I wanted more love story!

I don't think it's so much her character as perhaps it was the way she portrayed it. There were a lot of parts, like being pirate king.. that I liked, and as a character, the gusto... wasn't fond of her betrayal of Jack in the second movie, and wasn't fond of that kiss in the third. But other than that, I think it was just the way she played the character.. it was rather coy, maybe. Not sure what else to call it.

I like elizabeth and how kiera plays her. in the second one she was too girly and immature. i liked the end though, lucky girl got to kiss both depp and bloom.
. i think they developed naive, innocent and arrogant Miss Swan to bold, daring and proud King/Captain Swan quite nicely. i was hoping they would rectify what they did to her in the second one and they did very well. lots of guts and brassyness.
