at 5.5 weeks she would have only just started showing , and depending on the amount of kittens she would be carrying . if for instance she is only carrying maybe 1-2 kittens then she wouldnt look very big atall , some queens dont show untill gone 6 weeks.

Yeah, if she has a small litter, her size right now is not unusual for 6-7 weeks along. Make sure the vet verifies she is pregnant or not before they give her any shots. There are certain immunizations a pregnant cat should not have.

Please keep us posted on Audrey!

We're going to bring her in to a vet soon for a round of immunizations, basic tests, and a second deworming, just to make sure. At that point we'll ask for a professional opinion. That should give us a definitive answer.
That I can not answer My Skittles had 13 and she well she was very (trying to be nice to her lol) pleasently round.

Hah, yeah, I've seen some photos of Skittles. Pretty noticeable.

Well, we're keeping our fingers crossed that Audrey just has a bit of a belly from the recent lack of exercise. If she is pregnant, hopefully it'll be a very small litter.

Don't pregnant cats tend to be ravenous? She doesn't have much of an appetite. We're trying to switch her over to wet food, which she's not particularly fond of right now, but we do leave out a bit of dry food to see if she's hungry for that, and she rarely finishes it, even over the course of the day.

normally the last week -2 weeks i always found they tended to eat a lot more then usual.
just a thought , you said she had flees and has now been treated , was she also wormed? the bloated effect could be a result of worms and can take a few days to come out her system if shes only just been treated.

She was treated for worms when she was first brought inside by her foster mom. We're going to have her treated again, though, since her foster mom had noticed a pin worm (?) in her feces just before we took her home.

Either way, she's got an appointment at a local vet in an hour, so I'll have answers for all of you soon!

Oh good!! I've been thinking about precious Audrey. I hope the vet answers all of your questions!!

(Just an FYI, my vet claimed Gabby was only going to have 1-2 kittens and was due in 2-3 weeks). 7 weeks later she had 7 kittens.

I noticed with Skittles the last 3 weeks she bearly ate and when she did she inhaled it and the next day we where in the labor closet
So I am not sure that would be an accurate clue.

Was she treated for intestinal Parasites yet.

Then after the baby she was a huge eater and was so gassy and looked awful. I was told it was because she ate all 13 placentas

We're back from the vet. Audrey was treated for worms a second time, to make sure everything is gone. She was also tested for FIV and FL, both of which came back negative! Thank goodness.

The vet said there's a fifty-fifty chance that Audrey is pregnant. She's apparently a very solidly built cat, so the vet couldn't tell if there were any fetuses. Basically, either Audrey is pregnant, or she's still a bit bloated despite being dewormed several weeks ago. We should know for sure in two or three weeks (she would be at least 6 weeks along right now).

I'm sure our roommate will be thrilled.

Aside from that, she's in excellent health. Good weight, and excellent behavior. Totally mellow at the vet's office.

Also, the vet was terrific. If you're in Toronto and you're looking for a vet, definitely check out Queen West in downtown. She told us that since we'd usually have gotten the vaccinations today, she'll wave the office visit fee when we come in for the vaccinations once the chance of pregnancy is past.

Keep watching for signs of her being pregnant.
Uh-oh a roomie issue, whoops! Maybe she'll enjoy the extra felines, so long as their aren't 13 of them

Roommate issues shouldn't be too bad. She'd only be here for about a month after the kittens were boring, and then she's going away for the summer. I'll give you folks updates as they arise.

Also, should we be feeding her a kitten food in case she is pregnant? We just started her on canned Wellness.

I moved Gabby onto kitten food, and I don't think it would hurt for you to do so because it sounds pretty likely she is pregnant.

I also fed Gabby a nutritional milk supplement that she drank and she loved this. It is the same formula you would give the kitties when the mother doesn't nurse them or isn't around.

Okay, we'll pick up some kitten food soon, just in case.

Although the prospect of kittens is exciting, we're still hoping it's just bloating from the worms. We're both very pro-rescue, and the unfortunate truth is that adorable kittens take up homes that could otherwise go to older cats who've been waiting for homes for much longer. In a way, I wish we'd gotten her earlier on so that we could have taken a more agressive approach and had her spayed right off the bat if she isn't already. At this point, if Audrey is pregnant, she's be far enough along that I'm worried the spay would be dangerous.

We had her wormed again, because her foster mom had noticed a pin worm in Audrey's feces the day before we took her home. It might have just been a dead worm finally getting out of her body, but just in case we got her wormed again. It can't hurt, right?
