Yep, very very advanced ones. Wisdom teeth and some of our dreams are proof of that.

I think animal protecton is good but people can go too far, I for one wouldnt like to live in a world without pets.
I think they are right about a 'Walt disney' education system concerning city people and wildlife. Geese do not eat surgery cereal and sing songs, like daffy duck in their real "natural" life
I found a lone candian goose yesterday by the river it was so tame I touched its tail it wouldnt fly away and it was earting lucky charms cereal that someone had dumped on the ground.

Just a quick update. It has been a while since I posted anything, but at the moment, we are at a stand still. The opponent hearing has been postponed again. This could be a very good thing. We are hoping that it keeps getting posponed and dies under a stack of other bills

These animals are meant to be in the wild, not kept as pets. I do not support keeping large cats as domestic pets.
Well, this is NOT IMO and your opinion about these cats being kept as pets is wrong...sorry. I do not want any animal rights nonsense posted here
This thread is about a pending bill. Now, if you would READ what you posted, you can see that how these people handled their cats, was wrong. You DO NOT allow a small child in with these full grown cats. With tigers and ANY large cat, the only person who should go in with them is the owner. If anyone else goes in with them, the cat should be in a lockout section of the cage at all times. Even when the owner goes in with them, it is best that the cats go in a lockout, especially with large cats like lions, tigers and leopards. I never allow anyone in with my cats, except other exotic owners and the veteranarian. No one else goes in, unless the cats are locked down. As for tigers meant to be left out in the wild, the sad fact is, there is NO place left for them in the wild. In the not so distant future, that is, in our lifetime, there will be no more tigers in the wild. The only place you will see them is in private collections. Even though this person was killed due to THEIR mistake, does NOT mean this type of animal ownership should be banned. If this is true, then we must ban cars, motorcycles, guns, people, taking showers, ALL domestic dogs, ladders, toys, swimming, all terrain vehicles, alcohol, fireworks, I can go on, because ALL these things cause more death and injury (especially people) to people than any large cat in captivity. Ownership of these cats is my, or anyone elses right, to do so. As long as you do so RESPONSIBLY. It is very clear, that the people who own these tigers are NOT responsible.

Just an update. The bill will not be heard again next week. Is it possible this bill is just geting buried? Will it just die in committee? I pray to God this is exactly what happens
I just wanted everyone to know this hasn't gone away, but sometimes these things just take a while. However, nothing would please me more, than to have it just die in committee.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it does just that.

John, I've learned from experience with my local government, when they keep postponing the vote, they're trying to see which group is going to loose interest first. Then they will try to sneak the vote through without the opposition. So until you actually see the bill voted down, keep your vigil up! And keep checking their meeting agenda!

Yes, this is true. The thing here is, the bill is not yet ready for a vote. It still needs to have an opponent hearing before the committee. The must have this hearing. We have been keeping a close watch on it and check the agenda every week. We also have a state representative that has been keeping us posted as well. I am sure we will be dealing with this for years to come.

I just read through every post on all 14 pages, and I am just apalled that Animal Rights made this bill. Owners who take care of them well should be able to have them as long as they are obeying the minimun standards for enclosures, as you are. And that they are takign care of their animals well. I really hope that everything turns out well, this seems like it has and is going to be a long and hard battle, goo luck with everything!
Oh btw, your kitties are beutiful!!

In most states that have a ban law in effect, it has all been an Animal Rights bill

Exactly

It seems now, that there will be no more hearings on this bill until the end of summer. So, this gives us more time to prepare as well. We are not going to let this sit on the back burner during the summer, we will continue to fight. We have gathered some more support as well. I also want to take this time once again, to thank everyone here for their support
