Thanks GK, Occiats are nice. I saw a chocolate at the last show I attended.
You'll enjoy that breed very much.

Does Jack carry for marble? I looked on your page and saw that Penny is a marble (a gorgeous one, I might add
), and was wondering if you thought you might get marble kittens.

Do you think any of the kittens will get Jacks eyes? Some will probably be silvers too, right?

When is Jacks next show? Its coming up soon right? What will you do to prepare?

Can you tell I'm excited for you?!?

Good questions.

Jack has marble in his pedigree, but it's not prominent. So, the possibility is there, but we expect mostly spotted from him, even with marble girls.
(as expected Penny delivered 4 spotted, see my other thread
)

As for the eyes, it would be nice for the kittens to inherit that and it's definitely a possibility.

Jacks mom is a brown spotted and of course Penny carries only brown genes, so I guess we'll see about the silver count.

Jacks next show is this weekend in Alabama. Preparing for the show is easy as far as Jack is concerned. We just load him up in the car and drive. He doesn't require any special services, other than a nail trim at the Vets. We're very fortunate that Jack thinks road-trips are cool. He loves the car ride, the hotel, the show hall..it's all good fun for him. Yeah, you'd think he was a dog.
He'll do his usual thing along the way.....He loves the big trucks on the road.
He talks to them as they go by and if he's lucky, the trucker will notice and wave at him.

He just needs one final and a few points to Triple Grand. I'm hoping that's a slam dunk for him, but you never know who's going to show up to compete.
He's usually up against at least 10 other bengals and all the other breeds as well.
I think he will continue to do well. He's got the total package plus the charisma.

Thanks for being excited! We're chomping at the bit to get to Alabama and for Miss Spotty Paws to be old enough to breed with Jack. I think those kittens are going to be something.

Thank-you Gaye!

3 days 'till showtime. Mr. Jack gets his claws trimmed at the Vet tomorrow.

(He hates that, I almost feel sorry for the Vet) He's a gentle giant, but for whatever reason he doesn't want his weapons cut back. He does put up a struggle for that event, and I'd rather pay the Vet 7 dollars for Jack to hate him instead of me.
It's weird, he's the only cat we've ever had, where we can't trim his claws ourselves.

We'll be in Huntsville. We show in Birmingham alot too. There are at least 2 shows a year there that we attend.
I know Huntsville is about a 100 miles from Birmingham....but if you want to drive up, let me know, I'll give you the address of the showhall.

Thanks Tracey!

I'll give you the short version of what triple grand means.

TICA's championship system is tiered and based on finals awarded by the judges (which result in ribbons being presented) and points. Points are awarded by finaling and defeating other cats.

Champion = At least 1 final and 300 points

Grand Champion= At least 6 finals and 1000 points (hardest level to achieve)

Double Grand Champion= At least 7 finals and 2000 points

Triple Grand Champion= At least 8 finals and 3000 points

Quadruple Grand Champion= At least 9 finals and 4000 points

Supreme Grand Champion= At least 10 finals with 1 final as Best Cat as a QGC and 6000 points.

Thank you for the explanation.
It has lead to another question however. You have Grand Champion as hardest level to achieve, but it appears that Supreme Grand Champion would be the hardest because you need more finals, points, etc. Could you explain? Thanks.

Yes, it's a little confusing. I'll try to summarize.
The finals and points are cumulative.
I.E. A cat needs 6 finals and 1000 points to achieve Grand Championship status.
In order to advance to the next level of Double Grand, the same cat would need to get one more final and an additional 1000 points. The total would then be 7 finals and 2000 points

So to achieve Supreme, the total final count count must be 10 plus 6000 points.

The reason Grand is the most difficult, is that here is where the cat must earn 6 finals from at least 4 different judges. Basically this is the point where you know you have a cat that can continue to win, versus a cat that is really good, but may not be one of the best.

I hope this clears it up a little. I know it's a bit involved.

Yes it is involved. Thank you for the further explanation.

We are finally back from the Alabama cat show. Jack earned his triple grand as we had hoped. He had plenty of stiff competition this time. One of the top bengal's in the world (I believe, the current best bengal in the world)
was competing at this show and Jack beat him a couple of times, but mostly took second to him.
I'm not complaining, I'd be thrilled with 2nd best in the world if it ever came to that. At any rate, Jack's two best of breed and his other 2nd best's, were plenty enough to catapult him to triple grand and get him more than half way to Quad.
When and if Jack does Supreme, I'll probably pull him from the show rings and start on the next cat, so it's highly unlikely he'll end up one of the top 5 bengals in the world, but that's a nice dream.

Our kitten Sudden Impact did pretty well in a large field of competing kittens. He finaled twice with 2 best of breeds and got a few 2nd's and 3rd's. I was pleased with the results of his 2nd show.

I took these pics of the boys on our way home from the show. Next time I need to remember to get some shots of the show itself. I'm sure some of you would like to see that stuff.

Jack and Sudden Impact, worn out, getting some well deserved shut eye on the trip home. Jack woke up enough to yawn. You can see the size difference between 5 month old Impact and 10 month old Jack.

Jack is content to just hang out.....too lazy to entertain any passing cars on the way home.
