No... I could never do it - I'd get lonely and feel awkward

I will eat alone in a resturant. I normally bring a book or somthing, but every once in a while I will go solo.

I don't have any difficulty going to a restaurant alone. I take a book. I used to do that every day at lunch time -- got expensive buying lunch every day, so I stopped doing it. But it was a good break in the middle of the day, and I deliberately went alone most days, in order to turn off the office completely. (Nowadays, I come here to get my head out of the office. Costs less. I don't get wet. Fun, too. )

I also took myself out for dinner from time to time when I was still on my own and just wanted to be pampered a bit. Same thing: take a book.

I eat alone at a restaurant quite often. I travel quite a bit for business, so it's either go out alone or just sit in my hotel room. I'd much rather get out and see a bit of wherever I am. It used to make me feel a bit awkward, but I'm over it. I bring a book or something to read, but frequently end up people watching or getting into a conversation with someone.

Is it strange to go eat alone? I could get take out, but not spending time away from the office makes for a long day.
I frequently eat alone. Nothing wrong with that. You have to eat

Take a book or a magazine with you if you like

It bothered me years ago, but since I travel to the U.S. every year, mostly alone, I've gotten used to it. I always take reading material, though.

Mmm, I say go for it, but for myself I feel uncomfortable with the idea of it.

I do, however, go see movies by myself all the time....just because it's dark and there's no awkward silence.

I totally would and DO for lunch...not for dinner though..I would feel weird..

I would buy take out and happily sit alone in the park etc and eat, but I don't think that I would sit alone in a restaurant

I do it from time to time. When I can get a break from the house and all the work here.I love to go and get a small order of Wonton soup and eat it alone.

I don't eat alone much, but when I do I feel more comfortable with a newspaper or something to read. I'll even occupy myself by balancing my checkbook if there's nothing else to do. OR...is there's a TV available, position yourself to watch it.

I've always enjoyed going out to eat by myself. I don't do it as often as I used to, in my 20's I used to all the time. I find it to be relaxing and I enjoy watching people. Every time I go shopping I must always treat myself to lunch out, it's something I always do! It's so fun!

I've never had a problem eating alone in restaurants. Like others have said, bring something to read if you feel uncomfortable. A magazine is good, or an iPod.

I do that, too. We have Le Peep restaurants in my neigborhood. They do a great breakfast or lunch and keep copies of "Diddly News" on the counter, a fun mindless read while dining alone. I stop in on my way out to shop. Makes the day go better.

My husband does, too. He always "treats" himself when he goes on a shopping trip. Since he was already doing that when I met him, I don't think it's my cooking.

I really enjoy eating out alone as long as I have a book so I look busy, lol.

I absolutely love to go out for a burger at red robin's and then a movie. The nice thing being that I never have to argue with anyone about which movie to see

I don't mind eating out on my own at all. I used to go downtown alone all the time by myself to record shows,etc...at the time, my best friend was going to college out of the city and i didn't really have anyone left around here to go with me- so it was eithor stay at home bored out of my mind or venture out and have fun on my own, so that's what i did so doing things on my own doesn't bother me.

I don't mind breakfast or lunch, but I don't like to do dinner alone. It seems so lonely. I prefer going to the movies alone though. I go for matinee or twilight.
