So I came home and told DH all my plans for Smudge - setting up a website/fundraising thing for her, finding someone to adopt her who would accept the future surgery costs knowing I'm doing all I can to fundraise for it etc. His response?

Well we could just keep her and pay for it ourselves.

So we'll see what they say tomorrow, but I guess we'll start putting money aside for an operation....

Sarah, you've got a very good man there! I do so hope that the prognosis is better than expected for her little eyes. She IS such a sweet little baby, she definitely doesn't deserve this kind of problem....but she sure DOES deserve a good home like yours!

Oh Sarah Im sorry to hear about Smudge. What a great husband you have. I would definitely look into IMOM.org, whether you guys decide to keep her (I hope you do
) or she's adopted out. They can help you tremendously with raising the funds!

Thanks guys! Yes, he is a wonderful husband

As is usual, we were sitting on the couch, she jumped up, walked over me and snuggled up to him and nuzzled his face
I have no idea why she seems to prefer him but I'm not complaining!!!!!

One other idea to throw in there, Sarah, is perhaps you could talk to the opthamalogist(sp?) about setting up a payment plan?

Good luck on the spay tomorrow Smudge!

wow, just checking in - I was looking to see what the update was on Smudge.......and here we are 3 pages later

I´d never heard of this condition before.........and it sounds real expensive........but she is a little treasure and of course your DH is obviously so smitten with her

Hopefully the fundraiser thing will work out well
and/or you can get some sort of payment plan with the vets too.
Lots of
flying your way !!

Hello~ Just checking in see how you all are doing? Give your DH a pat on the back from all of us on TCS. I am so glad he is loving smudge so much he wants to keep her. Sounds like Smudge loves your DH just as much too. I think Smudge found her forever home in DH's Heart. I wish you all the best you both are such kind and caring people.
Hugs you alls way.

Thanks guys, she's at the shelter for her spay, but they've got heaps of kitties in today and the vet was going to be in late, so they're not sure if they'll be able to spay her today. They said they might as well just keep her overnight and do her tomorrow. If I wasn't on my way to work, and a lot closer to work than home I would've taken her home, but I was already a bit late for work as well.

So now I'm thinking of racing home at lunchtime and getting her little bed she likes and a toy if they don't spay her today so she's comfortable overnight. Either that or take her home, and bring her back tomorrow.

for Smudge's spay, and a big
for your husband. It really sounds as if the two have become attached to each other, and at least you have a little time to put some money aside. Poor Smudge must be uncomfortable. Does she have eyelashes? I know some cats do, while most don't.

Having been through my own kitty surgery trial of endurance (for my emotions!) today, here's hoping they can do her ASAP and you can bring her back home.

It sounds as though you're in a bit of a dilemma about her eye surgery, I really hope the situation corrects itself as she grows. She's a beautiful little thing, I hope you can work out a way to adopt her yourself, although for whoever does adopt her it will be a large financial commitment.
She is lovely though, I can't believe what a beautiful little girl she's becoming, and from what you say has a wonderful personality too.

So a friend from work had to drop her car off at a mechanic which was near the shelter, so I picked my friend up, and got Smudge and took her home since we were nearby. I couldn't bear the thought of her staying in a cold cage overnight if she didn't need to.

The vets said they still want to examine her eyes and they're not sure whether they'll do the surgery now, or if they'll do it later, or if they'll release her into our care. But they want to make sure they do her spay on a quieter day when they have another 45 mins free so they have time to examine her eyes and do her eyes if need be.

So we'll go back in tomorrow!

So, this vet might be able to fix her eyes? Is it one eye or both eyes with entropian?

Don't be too nervous waiting another night knowing your baby's going to be spayed tomorrow!
