By the way, Emerson and Evie, I forgot to mention that cats who strongly prefer not to wear claw caps can chew them off. My veterinarian routinely has requests to apply them and it, sometimes, ends after the first application because some cats remove them. Mine wasn't one of them. Good luck!
Thanks for your reply. I particularly noticed you mentioned your bully kitty was a sweetheart with humans. That is mine, too. He comes across as a docile, good natured, well behaved, and loving kitty with people. I will take into consideration your comments about separating them. I think I may...
I had a big scratching issue with one of my kitties. I purchased claw caps and had the veterinarian technician apply them. (It was cheaper than the veterinarian.) I take my kitty every seven to eight weeks to have them reapplied. I only have the front claws done. It has been a great move for me...
When you make your appointment at the vet, consider a veterinary school clinic. I've heard that some schools have hospitals that have a lot of experience treating pets with unusual health issues. Being a school, they may be a little more cutting edge than a typical vet office.
i have a three year old male and two year old female. I have had both since they were tiny kittens. The second one came in when the first one was a year old. They are neutered and spayed. Through the years, the male has had times where he bites the female. She cries, but won't defend herself...
Don't worry too much. Your heart was in the right place. It's been a few hours since you last posted. If the mother hasn't been back by now, definitely get the kitten before it turns dark. When the sun goes down, predators can come out and can get the kitten. If the one that was left is the one...
This cat sounds like a stray. Not a feral. Feral cats are not used to human contact and avoid it. Stray cats will often be fine with some, or total, human contact. They just don't have an owner. This cat sounds like a stray. I saw an article once where a mother cat brought a kitten to someone...
I have a vet who will trim nails. He also has a service I absolutely love. He can shave my cats down to buzz cut length. It's not the most attractive thing in the world, but they are inside cats. I do this every Spring to keep them cool and to reduce the nighmare of dealing with shedding. I let...
Like you, I was nervous about a second cat. I considered it because I had a grown male who was loving, docile, had model behavior, etc., and I thought he might be lonely. I loved him and I thought he might enjoy a companion that was like him.
I introduced a kitten and saw a different side of...
Thanks for the answer. She rarely hides and looks incredibly healthy. In the evenings, she loves to lay on her back and nap, in the family room, with the humans. She seems to like companionship, but just doesn't have a need for physical contact. She has never been aggressive. We recently moved...
If you can, keep your cat inside. If not, keep him inside with periodic outside field trips on a leash or in a secure enclosure. Don't assume your neighbor is setting a trap to turn your cat into animal control. He could trap your cat and release him in a remote wooded area or outside your...
I have a neutered adult male that is friendly, loving, and enjoys affectionate interaction with me. He's a wonderful pet except that he will sometimes bully the female. That's his only flaw. This slightly younger spayed adult female absolutely hates being picked up or held by humans. In...
I am selling my home. My two year old neutered male and one year old spayed female have only been indoor pets. After the sell is completed, I, and the cats, are moving in with a relative who likes cats, but has no pets. Her one cat recently died. She currently has no pets in the home. We will be...
There is a local stray that has been around for quite some time. She is sweet natured and likes attention. She recently became ill and I could not deal with watching her experience discomfort and further deterioration of her well being. I took her to the vet (Bless her heart. This was the first...

Every year, it seems like there is a huge problem with homeless kittens, strays, shelter animals, rescues needing donations, etc. I also see public run (tax payer's expense) animal control offices that are maintained with upkeep, employees, etc.
This has made me wonder something. Why aren't...
A stray mother cat had kittens. (I live in an area that seems to be a dumping ground for horrible humans or people who are running off and leaving pets. This isn't the first time I have dealt with strays.) Not long after catching them, I noticed that one was smaller and ill. I took him to the...
