How long has it been. You should expect problems for at least the first week, perhaps two. After that things should at least improve to where the cats ignore each other.

There are many cats out there that don't like to be picked up. You should accept that your cat may never like it. Just love her for who she is and try to play by her rules.

Hi Jessv86. Some cats liked to be held and some cats don't. It is possible your kitten might learn to at least tolerate it but you should not count on it. My mother-in-laws cat is like that. He will come to me for attention on his terms but not mine.

I don't know who says cats don't try to establish dominance but I would have to disagree. I think that is exactly what is happening. I see it too in my home but I don't concern myself with it because, in my case, nobody gets hurt and the aggression is followed by affection.
