Iggy and the new kitten (Update)

We have tried as much as possible to make it easy on Iggy. Lots of extra treats and things. The two cats don't share anything right now. Iggy sleeps in our bedroom and he's never locked up-we put Manny in the laundry room bath at night when we can't keep an eye on them. This was Iggy's...

Manny-Feral? You've got to be kidding!

I don't know if it makes any difference but it wasn't a farm. It's a very high-end horse barn and boarding stable. I think his customers are a bit more concerned about things like this. He has to keep all of the cats healthy. Manny is currently playing with my Shih Tzu-too cute! J

    Solutions to dirty butt

If our new kitten doesn't start cleaning his bottom soon I'm going to give that a try. He's really cute but is his butt ever nasty! I can't decide whether or not to clean it myself. I don't want to start something that may keep him from doing his own cleaning. Jennifer

Do you brush your cats' teeth?

I can't even imagine trying to brush Iggy's teeth! When he doesn't like something he's like a puma. It took two of us wearing gloves just to get hime into the carrier last week. The vet said his teeth are fine, thank goodness. Jennifer

Manny-Feral? You've got to be kidding!

He does have his regular barn cats spayed. He just found out about the new mama cat this morning. We're really just assuming that there even is a mama cat since no one has ever seen her, just the kittens and those only as streaks of fur. Our vet does reduced-rate spay/neuter on barn cats so I...

Manny-Feral? You've got to be kidding!

Manny is our new kitten. He was found in a barn at 7-8 weeks old. At first we didn't know where he came from but the owner has since told us that there is a feral litter of kittens in the barn after all. He had just never seen them because they're VERY wild. He's never seen the mother but we...

Iggy and the new kitten (Update)

I posted a couple of weeks ago about how Iggy (17 mos) was reacting to the addition of a new kitten (7 weeks) to the house. To make it short he was not reacting well and showing a lot of aggression, primarily towards me. Igs is now doing much better with Manny (the new kitten). They've even...

    We're New!

Hi! I'm Jennifer (49) and new to the fourm. I'm married with two grown human children and four furry ones: The puppies are an almost 13 year old border collie (Annie) and a 6 year old shih tzu (Jack). Now on to the cats! We've had Iggy for almost a year and a half. He's an orange tabby...

    Help-found new kitten!

Iggy is doing much better today. I can pick him up and he's condescending to sit in my lap at the moment-very much his old self-he's always been more of the kind of cat that you play with rather than snuggle. The kitten came home from the vet with a clean bill of health. I still haven't let...

    Yay!-New Kitten Healthy!

I just got back from the vet with the kitten we found and he (Now we know it's a he!) checked out great-all the tests were negative. We also found out that he's around 7 weeks old. Now I just need for our "old" (17 months) kitty to get used to him. New Kitty-we need a name-tested negative...

    Help-found new kitten!

Thanks for the replies! We have been keeping new kitty and Iggy separate. They've never actually come face to face-it's me that he's attacking! The only room that works for the kitten is, unfortunately, Igs' litter box room. I moved his box and he's using it so that's okay. Iggy does seem a...

Best Way to Separate New/Old Cats-Help!

We (very unexpectedly) have acquired a new kitten and our older (17 months) cat Iggy is NOT happy about it! Before the kitten came Iggy wasn't exactly a snuggle bunny but was still quite friendly. Now I can't get within two feet of him without getting attacked-not just a hiss, a full-out...

    Help-found new kitten!

Hi everyone! This is my first post and I'm really worried! Here's what's going on: In July of 2008 my daughter's boyfriend was working in a vet clinic when an abandoned newborn kitten was dropped off. We agreed to foster it until it was old enough to be adopted. He was only days old so we...
