Spring, the bulbs start appearing and the cats can go outside and run around after having been stuck indoors all winter. I'm in a new house, so the cats are ever so happy anyway (larger, more rooms) I can't wait to see what they think about the new "hilly" back yard and all the trees!
You should tell your vet that the cat is nervous. One of my cats growls all the way to the vet, but she is always very happy to get back (to the same house), she had too many short term homes before I got her. The vet gives her a shot to relax her on the way home.
I agree about just leaving...
Thank you everyone, people are always so helpful on this site. I'm trying to correct the problem(s) like this. First, I'm paying extra attention to the resident cat, she really feels like she's playing second fiddle all of a sudden. The new one is very active, he wants out, he wants in, he...
I added a new cat to the household three months ago. The resident cat had a particular eating pattern. When I give her the wet food in the evening she would eat a bit, leave the bowl, clean a bit, go back, eat a bit more, go to the window and look out a bit, then back to the bowl - so it would...
I think I would focus on what the vet said, that it might be a dominance issue. Just wondering how the 'cat hierarchy' is in the house, if she is the 'top cat' then yes, it makes sense that after a few months spent establishing her superiority with the other cats, she would move on to you - the...
I thought this might be interesting to consider and discuss on this site.
Here is an ad I came across on a website:
There is a woman on here that is looking for a calico kitten and had contacted me on two kittens that I had for sale. Both for $150....for various reasons. They are sisters and I...
It has been mentioned several times in this thread, not to pick her up. I agree and would add that talking to her, asking her what is the matter in a calm voice, telling her that such behaviour will not be tolerated in a more firm but calm voice etc. would probably do a world of good. I have...
This is just an observation that I have recently made. I had a pair of cats that were brother and sister (different litters - same mother). They always behaved like a "couple". They were generally inseperable, except when they had a fight, and then they would sleep in separate rooms. A fight...
Update on Mr. Wiskers and Bradley. I was away most of the day today and when I got home, I got a definite 'we' attitude from both of them. There has not been a single growl!
They are still not sleeping together, Mr. Wiskers spends most of his time downstairs in his room, although he does not...
I think my cats always just want to talk. They recognize that people communicate with different sounds and they try to imitate. Bradley has a very broad range of sounds that she makes. Someday, I might be surprised!
I think cats are very clever little animals and if they keep up trying to...
I know it sounds cruel, but what if you keep him out of the bedroom for a while? Just until he gets into a habit of using the box(es).
Besides it seems to me that if it takes so long for the chemicals to do their work, you have to wait it out and not let the kitty near the bed until then.
They sound like "family" cats to me. Would you say you are an indoor or outdoor person?
I think they are indoor cats in so far as they live in the house, and outdoor cats because they go outside when they feel like it!
