    Boy or Girl?

Txcatmom...thank you!  I will keep in mind that a neutered male might make a good buddy for Joey, but a sweet girl might be the right choice.  I do believe in letting the cat choose me rather than the other way around.  I am happy that your foster worked out so well.  I will check out that blog...

    Boy or Girl?

The rescue has a "foster with intent to adopt" program that I will probably go with.  That would allow me to bring a kitty into the home and see how things would be with Joey and another cat.  If all goes well after a reasonable time, I could adopt the foster.  If things do not go well, we are...

    Boy or Girl?

Thank you for all of your replies. There are two shelters and a kitty rescue near my home. All of my pets are "rehomes" and that is where my heart is. Joey gets worse every day. Now he is starting to bite me (he has never been a biter) and he howls when I get out of his sight. Since I...

    Boy or Girl?

About a month ago my 21 year old cat, Sassy, passed away   I still have my 6 year old male, Joey.  We really haven't been ready to get another cat, but I think Joey is having a hard time being an only child.  He runs around meowing in the night, gets into everything, and seems to be looking for...

    Goodbye, my sweet Sassy

Sassy, my perfect 21 year old tabby, crossed over the bridge this morning.  She had been declining, and I knew it was coming, but I guess you just can't prepare yourself enough. A neighbor gave her to my daughter when she was just 6 weeks old.  She was the runt of the litter, and a very mellow...

    wet food leftover ??

Thanks for all of your replies. I have tried Otto's warm water method and Sassy is eating better. She doesn't eat much at one time, so I have tried 3 times a day and that is helping. She seems to be having a better appetite. I love this forum! Thanks for your help and concern.

    wet food leftover ??

I have recently had to start giving my 19 year old female tabby, Sassy, some wet food. She has never really liked wet food, but is getting a little thin and the vet recommended it. She still has all of her teeth, and she prefers dry food. She will eat about 1/3 of the can and then I have to...

    New to Catsite and grieving

I am so very sorry for your loss. I understand your pain, as I lost my Alex a couple of weeks ago. It has helped me to look at pictures of him, and remember the good times we had. Hold onto your sweet memories. RIP little Jasper ((((HUGS))) Sierra

    RIP my sweet Alex

Thank you all for your kindness. I also wanted to say that Alex would never have lived this long if it werent for CatSite members who helped me when he was so sick a couple of years ago. I never heard of assisted feeding and my vet didn't recommend it. ( I have since gotten a new vet )...

    RIP my sweet Alex

My dear sweet Alex passed away Saturday night. We have been battling liver problems for a couple of years, so I knew it was coming, but it doesn't make it any easier. He had been meowing more than usual during the day. That evening he threw up and couldn't stand to get away from it. (of...

    Snowflake and Ralph...RIP

Two weeks ago my Snowflake passed away very unexpectedly. She was my sweet white 14 year old kitty. I adopted her from the shelter. She was a young mom with 2 kittens--and then someone found 3 kittens under a trailer with no mama, so she took them as her own and fed them until weaned. I felt...

One cat continually victimized/attacked by others?

I have the same problem lately. Joey gets along with Sassy, but will stalk and beat up Alex every chance he gets. I was wondering if there is something wrong with Alex that Joey is picking on him. I hate it, but have no way to protect Alex.

    protecting leather couches

I say trim their claws and put a throw on the couch and let everyone enjoy the furniture. I have a leather sofa and my three cats never have scratched on it like the old cloth sofa Another benefit to the leather is that it wipes clean so cat hair isn't such a problem.

TCS Oldest Living Cat~Who is it?

My Alex is 21 and Sassy girl is 18. Sassy was the runt of the litter and we brought her home when she was just 6 weeks old because her mom decided not to feed her. She has always been a fat girl--18 to 20 pounds! Alex was adopted a couple of years ago to keep Sassy happy when her brother...

    Eating Paper?

Thank you Laurie and AddieBee! I know from having human children that when they start eating wierd stuff(like dirt) it means something bad and they need to see a DR. I suspected with Joey that this might also be the case and I was confused when the vet dismissed my concern. I guess it's time...

    Eating Paper?

No, he is definitely eating it. It sticks to his mouth like peanut butter and he wiggles his tongue till he swallows it. We are closing the bathroom doors so he can't get in when we are at work to restrict it and hopefully he will forget in a few days. He has plenty of toys and 2 other cats...

nibbling, keep me up at night!

LOL! My 3 year old neutered male tabby, Joey, has recently started this face nibbling at nite He then snuggles up and purrs REALLY LOUD for a few minutes and then goes to sleep. He has always been a bit independent, but has gotten very snuggly at bedtime and won't let the other 2 cats sleep...
