    2 resident cats, new kitten

Things are going well. I installed cat shelves in our living room over the labor day weekend and Penny has really taken to those. Dobby is feeling much better and he also uses the shelves. He is so much more energetic and fun now. Running and jumping when we play with them. I'm glad he is...

    2 resident cats, new kitten

So we have had Dobby for about 3 weeks now. He is on antibiotics and eye cream but is feeling much better. He gets along well with Rogue our resident male. They greet each other and there is no hissing or swatting. Penny, our resident female, still hisses and swats at him. She doesn't ever use...

Dobbie has ear mites and an upper respiratory infection. The vet thinks the upper respiratory stuff is viral and that we have to let it run its course. Ear mite treatment has begun for all three cats in the house just in case. He is still very sluggish and is obviously not feeling well. I'm...

    On the verge of surrender

Is contained to that one room all day? How old is the baby? Thats a lot of change for a cat to go through in a short amount of time. He has moved homes, had a new member join the family, etc. If he is contained to that one room I am wondering if he can smell the baby and he doesnt know the baby...

The shelter said they were strays, so may not have had a "home" per se. He is neutered and we are planning on a vet appointment. I appreciate your comment. Thank you!

I was hoping you would respond Art. You really helped us out when we first got the two residents! This morning, Dobie the kitten, came out of his room and butted heads with the resident male Rogue and rubbed up against him. Rogue sat there and looked at him. No reaction. Rogue has always been...

My emotional support cat makes TOO MUCH noise at night...I don't want to lose my home

He knows. Do you have a therapist or someone you can talk to? I mean this with no judgement, but it sounds like you aren't doing well and might benefit from talking to someone. I don't know your personal situation but cost is frequently a barrier. Many therapists will provide services on a...

    2 resident cats, new kitten

And yes, this past Tuesday. It hasn't been a week yet. Which I understand is a very short period of time for a cat to adjust. He's just a bit more sluggish than I would have expected.

We chose him specifically because he was so social with us at the shelter. I do think it's stress and not having any cats that enjoy being around him. We will get him to the vet.

We are making an appointment on Monday. He was neutered 3 days before we got him and a check up was done at that time. They said no health issues.

    2 resident cats, new kitten

Hello! We have 2 resident cats who are each about 1 year 8 months old. We got a new 3 month old male kitten last Tuesday. The kitten introductions went fairly well. One resident male has no problem with the kitten. They aren't best friends but the resident male tolerates him well and seems...

Is this playfighting or something more serious?

Biting is a normal part of cat play. Kittens this young will play rough. The play may get louder and more rough, but it's still play. You will hear hissing, growling, etc on occasion as well. Just one cat communicating their boundaries to the other.

Is this playfighting or something more serious?

Definitely playing. Ears are forward all signs point to them being buddies.

My cat got outside for the first time since we took her in, what are the chances she returns?

I have used wood and "built" an enclosure for the trap. Basically secure a 2x4 the length of that opening, minus the width of the trap. I have built entrances out of wood before, but you maybe able to staple a sheet or towel to the shed and secure that to the trap as well. That would allow the...

Intro of 6 mo old female & 6 yr old resident male

If your resident is avoiding the area, could you get and enclosed playpen that you can put the kitten in in a part of the house he can't avoid?

My cat got outside for the first time since we took her in, what are the chances she returns?

I would put that trap right against the shed and block off the rest of that opening. Then she would have to enter the trap to leave. It will work, I am sure of that. You have her cornered, you have the advantage.

My cat got outside for the first time since we took her in, what are the chances she returns?

I know I mentioned this before but I would invest in a snake camera to make sure she is under the shed. If she is, I would block off all exits except for the one you want her to use. Then place the trap there and block off anyway she can avoid going into the trap. She will eventually come out...

How to prevent carpet damage by my cat?

Im wondering if you could get a plastic runner and put it upside down under the door. The nubs on the plastic runner would be uncomfortable for her to walk on and with it under the door she probably couldnt move it very easily.

My cat got outside for the first time since we took her in, what are the chances she returns?

If you can verify that she is under the shed then it might not be a bad idea to block off all access points except the one you want her to use. Then place your trap there with food in it and wait. With an animal that corners itself, you typically have the upper hand when it comes to trapping at...
