thanks Denice :) I'll be calling the vet today to schedule a test for Herpes...
We have tried a lot to get the weight off of Hank. (reduced food intake, more exercise change in food type, etc)... did you find an easy way to get Patches weight off?
i slightly agree with the "they'll figure it out" attitude... but you have to mediate a little.
we have 4 cats currently, 3 males and 1 female. and when we added the last to the mix they were all fully grown adults and the final male added we were so worried about.
we spent about two weeks...
also, tell me about these patches... we weaned the steroid use based purely on the fact that he went from a healthy 8-10 lb weight to over 20 lbs at last weigh in. and he's young... i just cant justify shortening his life or making him fat just to prevent some sneezing... and to be quite honest...
see thats where my thoughts are coming from too.... i have had asthma since birth. and i know its a little different in people and cats... however, there is a large difference between when he is coughing (happens on occasion) and when he is sneezing. the big, wet, projectile kind of sneezing is...
One of our babies, Hank is about 4 years old and has pretty nasty respiratory issues. He takes an albuteral inhaler through an Aerocat daily and it helps his wheezing but he is still a terrible snotty mess. He sneezes often and is usually a big wet mess. We had him on pred or a long time (about...
thanks so much everyone :) I always said Rex was going to make me millions when he got his modeling career... handsome boy. Thankfully his brother Max (my avatar) and the other three in our house are coping well and keeping us great company during our sad times.
we used Pill Pockets to hide my cats Asthma meds and my other cats Cancer meds... they work well.true, they arent the best ingredients... we also at times have crushed pills in foods like tuna or baby food. best of luck to you.
a week ago today, at the age of 16, Rex lost his 2 month battle with Lymphoma. We tried several treatments, and he put up an amazing battle... the final days will forever haunt me and I hope that he is now happily bumping heads and chasing toy mice in the heavens.
We tried every treatment...
when we introduce a new kitten we use a very small box for them and then as soon as they are integrated into the house, we remove that box and show them the large box frequently. never had an issue transitioning! we usually take just a couple of days to do this process of allowing the cats to...
those who dont understand how cats can be like your children have never felt the unconditional and unending love those little furry babies give us! i fully know. and you do too!
you did all the right things and gave Leo an amazing life - even if only for a few short years.
I"m dealing with the...
thanks guys! and thanks Kaitesyn! Hank is by far one of my most successful rescues. when we took him in he was terribly ill and only a few weeks old. he's a little on the heavy side these days being a good 15+ lbs (we think from years of pred), and has residual asthma from his early trials. but...
about three years ago a friend brought her dog over, and it brought fleas. my cats are indoor only so we were shocked to find fleas in the house. they spread quickly with 5 cats there. we attempted to treat with over the counter items. we had a VERY bad experience with Hartz over the counter...
Hello all. Wanted to give an update. We are feeding Rex anything he will want at this point. His weight has decreased a little but he seems hungry often. They have started steroid therapy and it seems to have increased his eating. We aren't just doin baby food - though it's what he could keep...
