High Quality GF dry vs. low quality canned diets

They get the Chicken Soup on the weeks that we can't make it to the store that has TOTW near us due to work schedules.  As for the calories- I was asking more in regards to the ratio. I agree that a calorie is a calorie, but you're comparing apples and oranges if you say they're getting x/X cup...

    What Breed is My Cat?

Domestic is the identifier one would use if you were submitting Household Pet (HHP) registration for CFA or ACFA (not sure how TICA registration of non-purebreds works). So Domestic Shorthair/Domestic Longhair would be the proper usage

is anyone else's cat allergic to wet food?

It's a long shot, but is it possible that your cat is actually allergic to the cans? There's a reason I don't eat commercially canned foods- you never know what is leeching from possibly impure metals, nor what they use to line/seal the cans.

High Quality GF dry vs. low quality canned diets

My husband and I struggle with this quite often, and I'd love to hear your thoughts. We've got 8 indoor cats, so trying to balance providing a high quality diet with a reasonable price Currently, we alternate between TOTW and Chicken Soup dry foods with a pet fountain. We do also try to monitor...

What do you feed your ferals?

Carb addiction! Once you can get your kitties to kick the carb habit, they'll love the grain free food. We had cats literally SPIT grain free food at us for the first week that we did GF food, so we ended up having to suppliment with a few canned foods to avoid any famine issues, but they are...

I can't care for my cats

There have been several great movements born out of the most recent economic recession! We have a pantry in my town where the volunteers will actually bring the food TO your house because they realize that many times, people in severe hardship might not have transportation to get to the pantry.

    Ringside table needed

This. Mine are two pieces of plywood that I carpeted with a staple gun and a rubber-backed bath mat. The bottom layer has four casters. There are eye-hooks on the underside of both top and bottom, and I affix them with bungie cords.

I need advice on introducing a feral cat to my multi-cat household

You are inadvertantly reinforcing her behavior. She has learned that when she attacks another one of your cats, she will get additional attention from you.  Do not console. Immediately return her to her cage and leave the room.

Cat with iris melanoma needs urgent surgery- please consider helping

My husband and I brought Hunter into our homes off of the streets just over a year ago. He was diagnosed with iris melanosis/melanoma on January 8 of this year.  It is an idiopathic growth of the eye. There is no way to provide a confirmed diagnosis of cancer until the eye has been removed, but...

Trouble introducing new kitten to household with soon to be bred cat

As long as you trim nails regularly (and dremel if you're lucky enough to have extremely patient cats) the nails won't be sharp enough to do damage. I'm not currently breeding, but we're owned by 8 cats, and in the 5 years that we've had them, we only had ONE issue with the cats causing visible...
