I don't think any of them are safe use but we do use one because my wife insists. I just try to spread it out more than a month. We were getting advantage but one of my cats had a skin condition that we couldn't get rid of. Two different vets said it was fleas but we never saw a flea on him...
I wouldn't worry too much. Most cats, but not all, would like to have another cat as company. It won't seem that way at first as they are somewhat territorial to outsiders, but I think there is a good chance it will be fine after a month or so. I think there is also a better chance that she will...
I think preventing access to your bed was the best idea, you just need to stick with it and make sure it is 100% of the time. It is now either a habit or she can smell traces of urine on the bed which prompts her to want to pee there. Dr. Elsey's worked for my cat's pooping problem. Perhaps you...
How long has it been. You should expect problems for at least the first week, perhaps two. After that things should at least improve to where the cats ignore each other.
There are many cats out there that don't like to be picked up. You should accept that your cat may never like it. Just love her for who she is and try to play by her rules.
Hi Jessv86. Some cats liked to be held and some cats don't. It is possible your kitten might learn to at least tolerate it but you should not count on it. My mother-in-laws cat is like that. He will come to me for attention on his terms but not mine.
I don't know who says cats don't try to establish dominance but I would have to disagree. I think that is exactly what is happening. I see it too in my home but I don't concern myself with it because, in my case, nobody gets hurt and the aggression is followed by affection.
If they are both female, it is probably a jealosy/ territorial thing. She may be trying to show your cat that she is the boss and can do anything she wants. As far as what to do about it, I am afraid we will have to wait until someone wiser than me comes along.
I don't like medications but if the alternative is the shelter, I will say that my mother-in-law gives her cat prozac because he was peeing and that seemed to help.
