Hello all! Thanks for stopping by. I'm super new here. New on this forum, kinda new as being a mother to two cats, but definitely new with a pregnant cat.

So, my cat is pregnant. We believe her mating date was Oct 31-ish but that's just a rough estimation.

However, the thing is, this is her first litter and my first time taking care of a pregnant cat, so I have been reading all these articles... and making sure I am confident with her delivering kittens. But the more I read, the more I panick.

We went to the vet, got the xrays and ultrasound done, we're expecting three kittens :), and the vet said the due date should be around Jan 1st~

BUT TODAY IS JAN 3!!! STILL NO SIGNS OF LABOR!!!!

Keep in mind, Oct 31 was just a rough guess. What if it was actually Oct 27? Oct 28? then that means she's late!!! Should I bring her to the vet??

There's really no signs of labor yet. No milk, no water dripping, no pacing, no nesting, just PLAIN SLEEPING.

I am panicking. Please help...

Observe, the counted on day 60 is really a minimum, its NOT the promised date.  65 days is more common.

Also observe, cats manage a little too long pregnancies better than humans.  Its the other side which is dangerous for the kittens - a too early delivery.

So you have about a full week as yet to begin and worry for real!

Good luck!

Some occasional vomiting now and then isnt unusual for cats.  but if there are several vomitings during the same day, and especially several days running - THIS would be highly alarming.

Good you are observant!    :)

Ouch!  Real tought times.   Weigh the little one every day, so you know she is growing properly.

What kmr do you use?

Pity on 1 and 3, esp 3.  But what to do??  RIP.

Hello StefanZ, and Thank you.

I am currently on "Beaphar" Kitty Milk. seems like it's the best I could find in where I am now.

I was just experiencing some stool problem with #2. Her stool was pretty normal, but just a few  minutes again, she had this watery... stool just splashed in her towel. I know this isn't normal. Should I bring her to the vet right away? or I can kinda wait until her next poo poo time?

Re the diarrhea-  If you deem the margins are tight, its good to consult your vet yes.  It depends in part, if your vet is used to small sickly kittens.  Many are not.

Beaphar should be OK.   But if you can get raw goat milk it could be a hot alternative.   Bottled or powdered goats milk is useful too, but not the same potential edge as raw may have. Probably not better than Beaphar or other good kmr.

Raw goats milk may also help for the diarrhea - I want to believe.   This too comes from a live momma, so its almost as good as mommas milk.

If the diarrhea continues, be prepared to give pedialtye, bought or home made.   Ie a mix solution of salts and glucose sugar in water.   Because diarrhea makes them lose much salts and electrolytes.

Ps.  I suppose this Beaphar IS a kmr, ie kitten mothermilk replacement?   I know Beaphar makes such a one, pretty decent.

But if they also make a treat milk, with is low lactose cow milk, its not what is needed here.    The whiskas brand of such kitty treat milk is most renown, but I know there are also others.   Seen as treat they arent bad, but its not a kmr...

You can go ahead and get the mama cat spayed since she is not nursing or caring for her kitten.

If the kitten's watery stool continues, she may need medicine to treat parasites or infection in the gastro-intestinal tract. It could also be from the formula not agreeing. See what happens.

Re the diarrhea - Since it only happened this one time, I will continue on taking a closer look. If this really continues, I will go to the vet immediately.

Beaphar is a replacement Kitten milk. It's really difficult for me to get raw goat milk here, almost impossible. I don't have much choices here, so decided to go with Beaphar.

Thanks StephanZ for your help again! I really hope the diarrhea stops.

Hello Sarthur2!

I can do that? I don't have to wait until mama cat finish with her milk? If so, I will go ahead to make an appointment to get her spayed. Spring is just around the corner.

If the kitten's watery stool continues, I will send her to the vet directly. I cannot afford to lose the last one. I will keep an eye on her.

Thank you very much for your advice!!

It's normal! They sleep a lot, but become more mobile every day. Is she in a nest with a heat source, such as a heating pad set on low under the blanket? Does she have a plush toy to snuggle with? Does her mom ever feed or clean her or lie with her?

Phew!! I'm glad to hear that's normal. She's really moving too much so I kinda got worried hahaha

Yes, she is currently in a box with a heat source, but no she doesn't have a plush toy. Should I find her a tiny one? I don't have any plush toys myself... hahaha

Lastly, Nope. We tried to force her mom to feed for a few days. We got her to lie down, but baby kitten doesn't know how to suck... we're still trying to get #3 to open her mouth and suck... as we all know mother milk is for sure healthier than formula :(

annnnnd cleaning the kitten? Nawhhhhh, it's already difficult to get her to lie with the kitten for just 5 mins.... lets not mention the cleaning part... :(

Okay, then yes, mom can be spayed now before she has an opportunity to get pregnant again. Although most cats are good moms, once in awhile it happens that a cat takes no interest in her kittens.

Kittens need something to snuggle, in the absence of mom and litter mates. You can even roll a hot water bottle in a towel and place it next to her. A soft stuffed animal works well too.

Yes wrape something out form fleece if you have, fleece feels as mommas fur.  Otherwise any nice towel will do.  If you donthave stuffed animal, you can make one yourself.  The baby wont notice much difference.    :)
