I seem to have entered some kind of other dimension when it comes to my internet (through Comcast) and my cell phone (through AT&T).    My home network has suddenly vanished off my computer so I have to log on through xfinity itself.  I can't reach comcast by phone because suddenly I'm being rerouted to an AT&T customer service line with a very long wait.  What the heck?  Has the merger gone through already?   Both Comcast and AT&T are paid up.  I am really stumped.  Thank heavens for the xfinity hot spots or whatever they call them.  Otherwise I would have no phone or internet service even though they are two separate companies.

I have not heard anything about AT&T merging with Comcast at all. I know Direct TV was bought up by AT&T. I can try to ask one of my friends if she is on Facebook what number she has for Comcast Customer Service since she has all her services through them.

I do not use Comcast myself. If my friend I sent a message to gets back to me I send you the phone number.

Margd I sent you a PM with the phone #

I'm really loving this Vanilla Chai Tea stuff I got.  It's a protein thing.  I got it because with all the dental work, I haven't been eating much meat lately and it's absolutely delicious.

Good news that Artie ate during the night.  What is it about cats and little bits of plastic?

About @Tallyollyopia  --  I've wondered about her as well.  She last posted in the scary story thread on 10/14 but even before then, she wasn't posting very much.  I don't know what's going on with her but it looks like she last checked in about two days ago.  I hope she's okay.
Sorry it took so long to check in with everyone. There was some stuff (work and medical) that I won't go into, and this is first time at the computer in a while. I'm waiting to post more in the story Magic School and Egg  (still waiting for a better title), until I finish Chapter 1 and can post up to the chapter break.

Happy Belated Halloween everybody!

I kept my maiden name as a second middle name and then added my married name. I didn't want to get rid of my maiden name. My sister did the same thing when she got married.
I wanted to do this, but had two problems:

#1 WA state doesn't let you do this anymore apparently. You have to go in and get a legal name change and pay them 200 dollars.

#2 I already have two middle names. One is my mother's maiden name.

This is what I did as well.  Just because I took Roger's name doesn't mean I gave up my birth name.

#1 is just stupid on Washington's part.  No, I take it back.  It's discrimination against women, designed to make money for the state.

#2 is a bigger problem.  Three middle names is a bit much to deal with.

One of the things that I think is really annoying about the entire thing is that guys don't get to change their names for free after marriage except for in like one state (California?). So literally when the two gay guys I know get married in August the one who wants to change his last name will have to pay for it. If he was a woman he wouldn't have too. How is that fair? Same problem if a man and women get married and the man wants to change his name (this is something more and more people are doing). I think the law should be rewritten to say that one person from each marriage gets to change their name for free.

Three middle names would have been too much to deal with- this is also why I didn't add it as a second last name. It would have made my name 11 syllables long, which is too long.

An internet search produces a report that AT&T and Comcast merged on November 18, 2002http://www.internetnews.com/xSP/article.php/1503051/Comcast+ATT+Broadband+Close+Merger.htm

It also produced a report that Comcast claims it will be good for customers.  I think maybe your local company is having some problems, which would explain the long waiting line on the phone.  Recommend you try unplugging your router for five minutes or so, then plug it back in and give it another five minutes to thoroughly reboot.  When I'm having internet problems not caused by lack of payment, this is the thing that has always worked.

Everything is fixed now but it was really an extraordinary number of coincidences.  It turned out that AT&T was having outages in my area that were completely unconnected with Comcast.  The fact that they both went down almost simultaneously was total coincidence.  My modem went out because one of the breakers in my breaker boxes is failing and it cut the power off.  However Comcast has these xfinity "hot spots" you can access if your own network is unavailable and fortunately that worked.  I accessed Comcast tech support through "chat" and they reset everything so my own network was recognized by my modem again.  This was after I realized that the breaker box was acting up again.  it was a very uncomfortable feeling to be suddenly completely cut off though!   Many thanks to @catlover73  who clued me in about AT&T outages and took the trouble to contact a friend with Comcast for me!

Yes, @Margd, it is disconcerting to be cut off that way.  It's a bit hard to remember how things were before we had the internet, isn't it?

Well, I see the Cubs won again tonight!  Good for them.

You're right.  It's discriminatory, period.  (Also blatant money gouging.)

Emma's done with the buprenex
I managed to get the last dose out of the bottle this morning. There's a teeny bit left in the bottle but not enough for a full dose. It's been 5 days already so Emma doesn't need anymore. Emma had normal poop this morning
She probably doesn't need anymore Miralax but I'll keep an eye on her. She's still a bit fussy with food. She sits and stares at her bowl until I move her bowl around or add a treat on top. She seems to do it more with the chicken than with the rabbit
I'm still using the same bag of raw and Emma ate the chicken just fine before the dental.

Leroy coughed up a hairball yesterday
Fortunately I was able to get paper towels under him before he threw it up so the clean up was very minimal.

I found some cute cat-themed kitchen utensils and miscellaneous that would be great for holiday gifts for cooks
Here is the cat ice cube tray.  There are measuring spoons and other kitchen spoons and items with cat and various other designs.

I'll be done sitting for my one diabetic kitty after this morning (the one I chase and chase and sometimes actually get him). Taking care of another diabetic kitty starting this evening. He needs his blood sugar tested too but he's way more mellow.

And Game 7 of the 2016 World Series is happening tonight. It's do or die time, boys. Let's break that 108 year streak.

Placed a new order from my fave coffee company today! it's the little things in life.

The Dragon's Breath is pretty much everything. If you are a coffee love, give this stuff a try. http://greendragonroasters.com/coll...th?variant=4705391941#shopify-product-reviews
Gads.  With a name like "Dragon's Breath," how can you go wrong?  That coffee must send you from sleepy to fully alert just from the aroma.
   In other words....sounds good!

It's really good. I can't stand Starbucks because as far as I am concerned it's the three O's- Overpriced, overrated and over-roasted. These people really know what they are doing. I drink coffee every day at work. I have tried a lot of brands and this is my favorite.

They offer samples. Two 4 oz bags for $5 shipped. You can also get 4 K cups as a sample if that is your preference but I personally would rather make my own K cups using an adapter instead of buying them that way.

I am not affiliated with them in any way. They are a small company out of Pennsylvania and I believe in promoting businesses that aren't huge and faceless.

Hey everyone, happy late Halloween. I haven't been on in a while, we've had my sister, her fiance, my 3 year old niece and they're two large dogs (one of which passed away on Halloween from possibly lepto or poisoning) and 4 cats staying with us for almost two months. It's been pretty hectic, trying to get them moved into their own place they're both working and i have my niece about 9/10 hours a day. I got to go to the house of torment in Austin which is anyways fun and i love the new location! Of course every trip to Austin i have to hit every single half price books i can because i can't have to many books. It's so worth the hour drive! Sammy is now 7 months old and sleeps most of the day. He had to go into the vet a few weeks away because he was bleeding from around his bum, it was dripping on the floor, they said his colon was inflamed but they couldn't find anything wrong otherwise and he was acting fine. His teeth were covered in tartar or plaque apparently from a virus that was never treated when he was younger so he was on an anti biotic and pre biotic for over a week. Needless to say I keep a close eye on his bum because it worries me I'm looking into getting a filter for his water dish so hopefully he will drink more and we are multi cat litter shopping since his current litter isn't keeping up with 5 cats using it. Otherwise it's undecorating for Halloween and preparing for Thanksgiving. Of course early Christmas shopping on chewy where I can and trying to relax on my days off. Still battling rats in the backyard and I think possibly at least one opossum but I'm not sure. When I am able to setup my pc again I'll post some new pictures of Sammy my sister's cats enjoy my desk and we're tracking litter in the keyboard and threw up on my mouse a few times so I thought it best to take it down mostly. Has anyone given cats coconut oil for hairballs? Was it successful? I've never had an issue with Sam not so far anyway but the other cats leave them everywhere. I also made Sammy a pretty big bed with the help of my boyfriend's sister and her husband I'll have to take pictures of it at some point when he's able to use it again and I made him a big pillow for the inside. I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween and got to do fun stuff!!!!

I'm a big fan of Death Wish Coffee. Someone bought it for me as a gag birthday gift one year because of the name, but we used it that day. It's supposed to be the only dark roast that has twice the caffeine of regular coffee (or something like that). Dark roasts typically have less caffeine.
