So even 6 each is a lot for each mamma cat. After each new kitten has had a go at the colostrum from its own mama I would put two permanently onto Wynona, then they will get their own places and not be bullied off by trying to take someone else's place. They are all gorgeous.

I'm so happy to hear that after the anxiety over the placenta on number 2 it seemed to get easier through number 5! How has the rest of the night gone?

You'll need to keep an eye out that the older, bigger kittens are not pushing the smaller babies off nipples. And do not let the older kittens nurse from Naomi. The new kittens need the colostrum that only comes out the first day or two.

Twelve?!  Oh, poor Naomi.  Does she finally seem to be done?  I know that someone had said they thought they counted 13 on the X-ray.

Please make sure that each newborn gets a chance at some of Naomi's first milk; their immune systems need the colostrum.

Is Naomi still bleeding?  If so, please call the vet.

You make me very glad that Jasmine has been spayed.  Jasmine would say the same, if she were aware of this drama.

Looking forward to lots of cute pictures.

OMG!!  just went to FB and watched your videos!

Amazing....

This is really co-birthing, co-mothering, co-family...incredible.

Mom and daughter together! Daughter helping deliver Mom's babies...

These 2 moms are so sweet! so lovable...such an amazing bond between both of them. They cannot be separated...

Please keep us updated, if you can. You need to get some rest also...

At least Naomi has Wy to assist her with feedings...

8 + 4 = 12 kittens, with 2 moms....wow...

Just read this entire thread.  Poor little Naomi, or rather poor huge Naomi.  She really looked miserable in a couple of those pictures.

Congrats to the new mama! And auntie. And cousins.  And human foster mom!  How sweet that her daughter helped with the birthing.  I'm not on Facebook, so I can't see your videos. Any chance of putting them here?

Love their names, btw. Took me a little while before cluing into the mother/daughter name connection.

So, I had 2 hours sleep and a cup of coffee.

Last night got a little rough. Naomi would bleed quite a bit, and it it took her FOREVER to pass the placenta.  The poor kittens would be attached to her through the umbilical cord and just cry and cry and she was exhausted.

dThen, Wynonna would come over and help. She's  either chew off the cord, or she eat the placenta.  They ate 6 between the both of them, and I took the rest away.

My plan was to let the newborns nurse from Naomi then place 2 on Wynonna, but the 2 Queens refuse to be seperated.  So I'm watching babies and birth weight closely.

Here's the breakdown

Kitten 1   Black and white tabby head  106 g

Kitten 2   Black kitten, marked red under arm  107 g

Kitten 3  Calico  103G

Kitten4  Black- marked green  106 G

Kitten 5  Black with white marks 107 g

Kitten 6 Orange  122g

Kitten7  2 colors 120 G

Kitten 8  Orange white tummy  112 G

ANd here are the brave, wonderful Moms

12 kittens in all!

The weights are incredible for there being 8 babies. Not a single one under 100 grams, so a healthy start in life.

It's always a problem with older kittens that they bully the newborns, so your primary concern is to see that all the newborn kittens get ample nursing time from one or the other mother.

There appear to be no runts at the moment, but that can quickly change as they bully and vie their way onto favorite nipples. You'll have to be diligent about weighing and watching.

Things should settle down more over the next 24-48 hours, so if the need arises to separate them or to supplement, you'll be able to.

Hope you can catch a nap today! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

You are doing a fantastic job!!

I do want to reiterate the importance that all Naomi's kittens nurse as much on her as possible for the next 24-36 hours so that they each get a decent amount of colostrum. After that, I say as long as everyone continues to gain 8-10 grams per day, let them nurse where ever they can.

Omg Naomi's orange kittens look massive compared to the rest!

I'm glad they were all delivered safely and all are healthy weights. :)

Good for the newborns!  If they refuse to be bullied out of their milk, they will thrive.

I just finished reading this thread. I haven't watched the videos yet but will soon. I am so happy for everyone.

Cats are amazing creatures and the fact that both queens were there sharing the delivery and nursing of the babies is proof of this.

I hope you are able to get some rest now. It looks like the mommas beat you to it.

I can't sleep. I'm too would up, so I'm watching Call the Midwife and weeping lol

I just came down and weighed the darlings. They have all gained! some 13 grams (!!!) and some just 4, but the lower gains are those which were born this morning.

It looks like I have 5 boys and 3 girls, but I'm awful at sexing them. I'll try to get pics later to get some help

My Queens are hungry, so I'm providing a lot of fresh food, water and they both drank a small bowl of KMR.

Naomi showed me oshe can nurse all 8 of her babies at once when I moved some of the littles over to try and get more colostrum in them

They are all doing well, so I'm trying not to interfere too much.
