Dear Christmas Guru,

I don't have a question, or maybe too many.  We will have 2 new kitties this year at Christmas, unless Jennie is adopted before then.  Last year we put Bitter Apple on the lower tree branches, it's an inexpensive fake tree that won't hold much weight and I put a cat Tunnel under the tree leading to a cave surrounded by gifts.  It seemed to work and I only used stuffed ornaments.

Is there any brand or type of fake Christmas tree that would hold a 13, 10 and/or 8 lb cat?

Looking forward to kitty mischief,

HK

Dear HK,

What a wonderful idea of using the cat tunnel.   Santa says this brought much joy.

Unfortunately, the only fake tree the Christmas Guru can think of that will support cats is a cat tree.

Wishing you and your family and the kitties a lovely holiday,

The Christmas Guru

Dear Christmas Guru,

I am looking for cat-themed gifts for my Grandpa. He is a respectable gentleman who takes part in many community events and activities. I need something that's classy and won't attract too much attention. It shouldn't "shout" cat, just have a "touch of feline" that will show the world that his granddaughter loves cats. I found a few items and was wondering if you think these would sent the right message -

Which would you recommend?

Confused Granddaughter

Dear Confused Granddaughter,

Christmas Guru loves all the items you have found, but thinks the sweatshirt is the best choice for a loving grandpa. It says 'cat' loud and clear, and tells the whole world that cats are 'pawesome'. (The family resemblance to a certain festive feline is also much appreciated :bigwink: )

Wishing you a Purry Christmas,

Christmas Guru

I don't know why, but I can see your grandfather, running towards the finishing line of a Christmas Marathon for The Respectable Elderly of the community, wearing this.. It seems like the most subtle solution. I would buy him a matching pair of glasses, Confused Granddaughter

Dear Kathryn,

Hello and welcome to this wonderful site! :wavey:

Santa Claus is a magical spirit that lives inside of everyone who believes in him. He is real only for as long as you believe he is real and not for one moment longer. When people tell you that Santa is not real, they are correct. He isn't real for them any more. If you believe he is real, like I do, then he is. You can keep Santa alive in your heart for as long as you want to do so.

Dear Christmas Guru,

I am really stumped as to what I can get Artie this year. Last year I got him a huge cat tree. I do not have space for another one.

He is 11.5 years old, on a strict diet for IBD, and is not interested in playing very much. He would prefer to pay "chase" around the apartment.

I brush him daily. He has tons of toys, scratchers. His favorite things are his carrier (safe place), a Chewy Box, my quilt, a mouse (occasionally), and a Jackson Galaxy kicker; and following me around all morning and when I am doing something interesting. Actually, the apartment looks as if it belongs to him; with me watching that he does not eat it...

When he is in a phase and does not care for his food, he will resort to eating 'bad' things: wire tie backs, string, munching plastic, etc....

I know he would love the wrappings and box much more than a real gift. Would that be ok? I mean, I can wrap an empty box, put some tissue paper in it and let him go at it....

what do you think?

Dear Frustrated Baker,

Don't put your measuring spoons away quite yet.  You'll need to buy another tool for your kitchen.

When a cookie breaks there is caloric leakage. The more cracks and the longer they are broken; the more the leakage. Each cookie will need to be broken into at least 12 pieces. All you need to do is buy  a small mallet and your problems are solved.   You can either pre-smash the cookies for your family and friends or provide them with their own mallet. :smash:   May I suggest baking a batch of catnip cookies for the feline friends in your life?  Cats like cookies too, you know, and feel free to send some to me at the North Pole.   I'll put in a good word with the big guy for you if you you do!

Purrs,

The Christmas Guru
THIS IS TRUE!  Also, a little known fact is that calories are terrified of heights.  So store the cookies and chocolate on top of the fridge.  The calories will panic and leap to their deaths.  My Gran told me so!
