I got The Jarrow 250 mg capsules. tried to give last night, starting with 125 mg twice a day. My cat gets free eating of dry food and a small amount of wet AM and PM. He is inconsistent with eating all of his wet food. He has most of his teeth missing due to having them pulled several years ago due to stomatitis (before I adopted him). I know many of you just sprinkle it on your cat's food. I have already been giving Oliver: Famciclovir 1/4 of a 250 mg tablet, once a day, in a pill pocket; which works really well. I thought I'd just pour half a capsule of the Lactoferrin into a pill pocket and give it that way...WRONG. I didn't realize it was such a massive amount of fine powder in the capsule. So now having to rethink how I'm going to do this. I've never tried to give him pills down his throat. Don't trust that he'd get the whole amount of Lactoferrin by sprinkling it on his food. I also got some Lysine, but thought I'd not start them at the same time, and would go straight to the Lactoferrin and see what it does. He is a chronic. He has been on Famciclovir in the past prior to my adopting him, with good results, but wasn't on it when I got him. He's been on the Famciclovir for 2 months, with some improvement, which is probably reasonable for the amount of time he's been on it. He has drainage from both eyes, sometimes discolored, although, mostly clear since he's been on the Famciclovir, and nose is congested, see some dark dried stuff at edge of nare frequently; he sneezes, he also has a lot of clear mucous/secretions in his mouth, I see him swallowing, or he drools. Possibly due to teeth loss?
