congrats  I am so happy for you and for Anubis. All that hard work paid off.  What does your original kitty think of all this?

What an amazing week you and Anubis have been through! There were a lot of people pulling for you two. Now you have two wonderful friends. I'm looking forward to seeing Anubis grow into those ears!

My girl is not really happy with the idea of a new brother lol but at the moment I'm keeping them separated for both their safety. I can't risk my girl contracting a URI and I can not risk Anubis getting injured since my girl is a bigger. I still show her love and give her cuddles so she knows she's still my baby. The introduction process will take time, & like a family we will work through it :)

And Anubis has pointy dumbo ears :lol3:

Even after following your other thread all week, it still amazes me to see the progress Anubis has made.  You did a great job!

Oh boy, Anubis is not the same kitten from last Saturday! He keeps trying to escape from under the door and cries when he doesn't get his way through! Lol but he has such a cute meow though. It's so squeaky! He's such an explorer, & he got away when he smelled my mum's smelly shoes :lol3:

Since you cant afford a vet I would start lysine treatment immediately. You can order the paste online but while u wait u can buy the bottle at a pharmacy. You can crush and add it to formula and give w a dropper. My vet ok'd lysine for small kittens. It cleared their symptoms. Also a dash of salt in warm water compresses over the eyes worked wonders. Tiny tiny bit of salt. My kittens are amazing now. Of course I would say ask a vet first but you are unable to. So I would give it a shot. Very small dose. 125mg will work esp of you do twice a day.

Start the lysine on your other cat to lower the risk of her catching it. my vet also told me to do that with my cat.

Is anyone awake here?
While I'm very glad Anubis is a lot better and more alert, I would like it if he also let me sleep. Right now he's trying to get out of my room, which he's scratching under the door and meowing a lot. I can not keep an eye on him right now. I really need to sleep. I tried putting him in his little bed and he keeps
Getting off and runs to the door to start scratching. He's making a lot of
Noise. I tried cuddling with him but he keeps running back to the door. This boy got some energy! What should I do? If he stays awake he's bound to keep meowing to get my attention and wander a little too much and end up going places where he shouldn't. He gave me a good scare last night because I got up to give him his medication and I did not see him. I found him on the side of my bed. What should I do? I'm really sleepy but Anubis won't let me sleep.

Yes yes it says so on the "at home care instructions" (which he urinated on lol) that we were sent home with. "Resting should be encouraged." The vet told me to wait until Tuesday (tomorrow) to see how he's doing but I think it's too soon, and since I was diagnosed with GAD (An anxiety disorder) if tomorrow comes and he's the same I am going to worry. I keep reminding myself it will take time until he can start showing proper signs but it's not easy when you suffer from anxiety, unfortunately. (I've mentioned this on another thread).

Anywho, I'm currently waiting for the water to cool in to nice and warm. I'm going to give him some pedialyte as well.

My first thought was can you put him safely in another room or area? A crate, a carrier, anything like that for the night? It's not ideal to keep him away but it could be your only option.

All kittens are like this.  He will eventually out grow this phase.

Some things to try are a bowl of dry food out, toys on the floor maybe a cardboard box with hole he can climb on and around.

When I really need sleep I take Tylenol PM< I usually have a headache on those nights.

I agree with everyone else. Post as many pictures as you want of this little sweetheart!! He's come so far. You're doing such a fantastic job with him. He's a very lucky little boy!

Anubis is down to his last can of a/d food. Should I start introducing solid food (the cereal bits)?
I caught him eating like 2 or 3 pieces of some of my other cats food that he must've sniffed from the floor & he goes crazy when he can smell it. we have my other cats food at the counter and he was sniffing around until he looked up at the counter and cried (where her food was). I was thinking since I still have the chicken broth I should leave it to thaw over night and warm it up and mix it with the cereal to moisten it? Or should I just buy another can of wet food?

You might as well buy a case of wet food. He really needs to put on weight and eat as much as he can for quite awhile, as your vet indicated. If he was going nuts for their food he is hungry!

He should have dry food all the time to nibble - literally 24/7, and he can probably eat a big can or two a day at this point. Whatever you do, I would not limit his food intake now at all. The more he eats the healthier he will get. He does not need cereal. He needs wet cat food.

Did you get a litter pan for him yet?

"My name is Anubis,
And one week ago I was very malnourished, I was so skinny and you could see and feel my bones

Now here I am, one week later. I am fat but cute."

UPDATE: what a week! Anubis has come a loong way and he's doing amazing! He eats more now and he's putting on weight. He's learning to use his litter box. He meows when he wants me to let him out of my room or simply because he wants attention. One thing that has not changed though is his stubbornness! Is there an antibiotic for that? LOL! He's still taking his antibiotic (oral and ophthalmic). I believe Wednesday is the 10th (last) day. He now chooses WHERE to sleep. His favorite spot is the kitchen floor but sometimes he comes in my room to sleep on the little bed I made for him. I'm still keeping him separated from my other cat although she has seen him from far. And lastly he's a quick boy! He still doesn't play like a regular crazy kitten though, but as usual he's alert & follows me around :)

What a difference! Anubis would not have made it without you stepping in. I love seeing pictures documenting his rescue & recovery! You are a kind soul and have a big heart! Thank you for stepping in and saving him [emoji]128157[/emoji] ((hugs))
