Aw how sweet of you!  Thank you MagiksGirl!

And . . . coloring has even reached "As Seen On TV!"  See here:  http://www.carolwrightgifts.com/col...n-on-tv/40437.cfm?clicksource=HOME_PAGE_IMAGE
I'm glad to help!

Mine are free printable ones. I cut my second one out because I had scribbled a bit of marker on the outer part so I probably just photographed it upside down.
It looks great! You have actually made me want to bring out my old markers, but then I remember I can't get even color with them and it passes
I've lived vicariously through you with your pictures! Keep up the great work!

I've finally joined the colouring revolution!!! Everyone's beautiful work in this thread has inspired me.

Last night I remembered I had some Prismacolor quality pencils (a uk brand called Derwent) as well as a whole load that are a slight step down in quality. That was the final straw - I went out and got some colouring books today. This is what I've done so far
I'm not finished yet (obviously), and my perfectionist side is being all nitpicky, but it IS a first attempt....and its great fun. Like Draco Draco I have to be careful of my RSI though :sigh:

@Columbine
   Welcome to the colouring gang!

I love the design you've chosen for starting:  which book have you got?

(Of course you are picking at the slightest might not be perefect pencil mark, we all do to some extent, LoL, but honestly - no one else can see any!   I certainly can't).

Remember, the purpose is to enjoy and relax - not to achieve perfect lines and colours etc.
Oh, and to join in with this thread of course!

Don't be worried about the coloring not being perfect. There are no rules for coloring so anything goes
The most important thing is to have fun coloring

For ArtieMom and Freedom who live in the Boston-area and anyone else who just wants something to color
I'm not sure how long this will be available online so you might want to save a copy of the image to your computer and print as needed

Columbine!

Welcome to the world of coloring!! That is a gorgeous picture and beautiful work!

I have a several which I have finished. I have 2 which are not completed.

LTS3,

Thanks for the link and the picture!! I will print a few now...

I am looking for different one.

I have the cat one which is too busy for me, the same with the creative animals.

I am just looking for fairly simple pictures.

That is a great Boston one!!

New question: Now that we are coloring, what are you guys doing with your creations?

I am going to go now- I will be lurking for a few days. Had the surgery yesterday. I am really sore and painful. It was a much larger excison that what I expected. I have a ton of stitches.. Deep ones which will dissolve over time and tons of tiny from the corner of my nose, down the crease of my cheek, almost to my upper lip.

All they prescribed for pain was tylenol. I guess all the drug seekers have made the doctors not to prescribe anything stronger. sigh

Needless to say, Artie is trying to investigate the bandage. It comes off later today. and a new one goes on. I am keeping it away from him..

The ones here are pretty simple: http://www.colorpagesformom.com/

For a book, the Mindfulness one that I have does have some pretty simple images. There are some posted in the Amazon reviews:
My finished images are staying in the book. The images are on both sides of the page and some are spread across both pages. I haven't started the Creative Cats one yet but those images can be removed out of the book. There are a few images in that one that I plan to send to a friend.

Thanks
If these cups were made in real life, I'd totally buy them
Me too!

The Playschool crayons were horrible! They have no pigment at all! Not even the black. They are very dry waxy. When you color, they start to flake on the paper since there's no pigment to color. You get a very translucent pastel color from any of the crayons. They also make a scratching  sound since they are so dry. I did not like them one bit. I'll see if I can return them or exchange them for the Crayola ones, with those at least I know they'll actually provide me with color for my pictures
We have a set of those someone gave my son.  The ones we have are the larger crayons for smaller hands.  And yeah; they are terrible.  They were hard to work with and it didn't encourage him to practice coloring at all.  I have seen them for sale in the dollar store here too.  I've found some decent things in the dollar store before; but these didn't impress me at all.  I still have them.  I'm thinking of using them for a craft project where you melt crayons down to make a candle.  I remember doing that in elementary school to make gifts for our parents.  As for coloring with crayons; I don't think you can beat crayola.  We have some Cra-z-art crayons that are decent too.  But when I went to buy DD a new bigger box of crayons; I chose Crayola.

I love that cat face @Columbine!  I have been a total lurker in this thread.

That's great @Columbine  , I love the finished picture!

I got all confused for a minute as I have a book called Cats Colouring for mindfulness too, only the one I got from my housemates is the Mesmoiselles one.   I looked all the way through it for the picure you have completed before I thought to go look at the link you provided.
The detatchable pages feature of your book is great, I'm not sure if the A5 French one I got has this same feature but looks like it might, and certainly has the printing on only one side of each page which I like.

@MoochNNoodles   I bet there are a whole load of 'lurkers' on this thread.
So many interesting and beautiful designs and tips and reviews to match.  It is a great resource and could inspire almost anyone to pick up pen, pencil or crayon and join in.   Fabulous stuff.

@Artiemom  That's not sounding so good for how you feel after your sugery.  I hope the pain goes quickly and the stitches that look so much more than anticipated now all heal well to leave little or no trace.   Someone I worked with a couple of years ago had something similar done but slighly higher to the side of their nose I think, and after a few months the scarring was barely visible at all.   Hopefully some colouring in will be the perfect therapy for your recovery together with some soothing and healing purrs.

Our newspaper had an adult colouring contest in it. I forgot to colour it though and put it out for recycling.

I haven't started a new picture yet. I will soon.

I now have a huge stack of printed coloring pages to do in addition to the books
I'm working on making my own adult coloring books as a prize/thank you to give to my walk team at the end of the walk challenge. There are 6 people besides me on the team so I needed a lot of coloring pages for a decent sized book (small presentation binder really). I initially figured 30 pages for each person so I printed off lke 200 coloring pages from various web sites. I sorted the images and discarded the ones that didn't print well. Some images had to be enlarged on a copier so they could actually be colorable. In the end I ended up with 22 pages for each book. and a lot of discarded images that are still perfect for me to use with pencils. I didn't use one set of 22 images for each book. The books all have different images in them to be unique just like each person on the walk team

Columbine, that cat  is GORGEOUS!

LTS thanks for that Boston page and link, that will be fun to work!

As to what I am doing with my creations . . . they are just piling up, lol.  I have taken them in to the nursing home to share with my Dad, he found it very intriguing.  Of course, with his dementia, I have to slowly explain the photo, what I am doing, then point out some highlights in each one.  For example, on the prism designs I will show him the symmetry on the pattern, and how I kept the colors according to the pattern.  One the 4th fashion lady, the 3 little birds are scattered about in the design, so I showed him the 3 birds.  (He'd only spotted one, himself).  So it gives us something to talk about.  Discussions can be difficult with my Dad at this stage of the dementia, so I enjoy taking in 'show and tell' stuff.

I am learning, I find I get fed up with the highly detailed ones, just want it FINISHED already, so end up getting a bit sloppy.

Artie Mom, prayers for healing.  And let that feline nurse do his job -- but not the bandages part, just the cuddling stuff!

Aww, thanks Freedom :)

I feel for you coping with dementia. It's such a cruel disease, and can make interaction so hard. Its great that the colouring is giving you something to enjoy with him. You could always take some simple designs along and see if he wants to do some with you.
