Its 4 F now, supposed to stay in the single digits. Looks like we are getting a dose of last winter but at least it's close to the end of winter instead of dragging on for several months like it did last month.
I saw an article this morning that said it looks like the grizzlies are coming out of hibernation a month early in Yellowstone because of the warm winter they have had. They have only seen one but he was feeding on a carcass. The article said that they will sometimes come out when there is a short warm period then go back in when it snows again. It said that they don't normally feed unless they are out for good.
It was so cold this morning. My feral was waiting on the front porch when I went downstairs to make tea. I opened the front door to let him in for breakfast and a bit of a warm-up. He gave his obligatory I'll-come-in-but-there-are-certain-rules-that-must-be-followed-or-I'm-out-of-here hiss and a huge plume of steam came spewing out of his mouth. He looked like a grey puffball of cat dragon. He came barely inside the door and proceeded to eat 3 small tins of food plus what was to be tonight's dinner of leftover beef. Far more than he usually eats, considering that I also fed him late last night, and other neighbours feed him as well. In order for him to venture in, I have to be two rooms away. Front door wide open. House lost all of its heat in about 2 minutes.
