OH gosh I get that all the time, it's all in fun though. For ten years I wouldn't get a cat because I was traveling all the time. Then I stopped traveling and a stray had kittens next to my house. She ran away (thank god we didn't trap her because she had two more stashed in another location) and I took the three of them into the house because it was over 90 degrees out . Anyway, they were two days old and I started reading on the internet, had no idea what I was getting into. I'm one of those never lonely when alone persons, but they have added such joy to my life. As have their cat parents, the two strays who I trapped and then had fixed and then somehow never made it back out of my house.
Since this happened I have thought a lot about what makes cats so special. I don't think there's the equivalent of the cat site for dog people is there? In the Paw Project the vet talks about how cats are such amazing animals because they know what they want. I think that's a lot of it, that feeling that you are interacting with another consciousness.
Anyway, you are nowhere near crazy cat lady. After I got the kittens a woman came over to my desk and announced she had 19 cats! I really can't imagine.
P. S. I also never felt rich before, but I do now because I can afford their food and medical care without a struggle. That said, I do have insurance!!!! which I recommend highly - $10 bucks a month for a policy with a $1,000 deductible. Already has paid for itself. If you have cats and can possibly swing it, get insurance! It tears me apart reading all the posts on here for people who can't afford to go to a vet.
