I figured you were vegan or vegetarian... which I don't have a problem with unless someone tries to make me feel guilt for not bring or tries to impose their beliefs on me. To each their own. I eat meat. Daily. You don't. And that's fine by me.
So are you extremely into it? Like not using ANYTHING that comes from animals? That is how it works isn't it? I won't pretend I know cuz I don't. Lol.

Yea kinda. I am vegetarian since I was 13 or 14, and vegan for 2 years. I am not a preacher; at all. All my friends and family are non-veg and it is none of my business. And yes I don't use anything that know caused any harm to any animal. I mean, what's the point being vegetarian if I don't eat a cow, but I wear it!...anyway lets not annoy others on the thread with this ;)

back to your femme femme fatale. ..is she on caption?

Lol. Yes she is! And good for you. It must be hard to stick to your guns in a world that is so use to living off of animals and Animal products. I commend you!

I like to try and see what name the cat likes. It may sound stupid, but I let them pick out their own names.

I will call out the names that I like to the room in general and see if the kitty reacts in any way. If not, I move on to other names. Usually it takes a few days, but I swear you can tell when there is a name that catches their fancy. Though this is how I ended up with a cat named Pooper, lol!

Lol I've actually tried that but the problem is that she would have to slow down/stop long enough to show any sign of interest. Between my boys and her Mom she plays almost constantly. And if she's not playing, she's sleeping. Lol

Still no response to the names I've tried. Trying on Sierra today. Means mountain range. Kinda fitting since we live so near to the Rockies.

Also trying on Tango, Wiskey, and Yankee. All makes from the Phonetic Alphabet... and maybe Rebel.

Doesn't suit her. Jeez! What am I gonna do? I've even tried the names I don't like or that I don't think suit her. She response to nothing. She's not deaf because she reacts to sounds. She just doesn't respond to any names. I'm so frustrated.

I stand by my idea of picking a name at random from a hat. That way fate decides, and you don't have to!

I picked out 9 names. Wrote them on paper, cut them up, folded them up... threw them down in front of her and she picked out the same one THREE TIME IN A ROW!!!

What I was originally going to name her anyway!!!

That's a cute name! It suits her. Salem kind of sounds like a mysterious name, and her name has been a mystery for a while!

Its funny cuz that's the first name I picked out. And everyone was like NO! that's a black cat name. But she put her paw on it and played with it twice and then picked it up with her teeth. So I'm done fighting it lol.

It's a good name anyway because she picked it, and it fits her because she was born during October (I'm assuming)--the month of Halloween, so she needs a spooky name.

Wait---do you celebrate Halloween in Canada?

No she's not an October kitty. She's close to 12 weeks old now.
Lol and you might say we celebrate it. I'm 32 and the ol'man is almost 41... and we both dressed up and went out with the kids. Big Daddy was a soldier, I was a pilot, the stepson was Captain America, and Sweet Pea was a black n white kitty.

Overpopulation in feral cats is different from overpopulation in beavers, IMO... beavers are wild animals, and we displaced their natural predators; so now we have to take over that role. It's either that or they die from disease and starvation. You can't TNR beavers, and trying to spread bait with birth control is a chancy thing that could affect more than just your target species.

Ferals on the other hand can be managed through TNR because their habitat is near humans, and they are dependent on our food scraps, and their population increases partly through strays. Feral dogs can be managed similarly (and it's even more important with town dogs because of the risk of rabies transmission).

It's lucky that we're omnivores; if we don't want to eat animals, we don't have to. But, like it or not, we're part of our ecosystem, and that includes managing animals both wild and domestic. Sometimes it means hunting; sometimes it means encouraging wild populations. Changing the environment is not something that's unique to modern humans. By the time we settled in the first towns, we had already had more of an impact on the ecosystem than any other species ever had (well, other than the first oxygen-producing organisms). Long before modern times we were hunting species to extinction and using fire to clear land. We're going to change things just by being here. Not eating meat is a personal choice, but even if we were obligate herbivores, we would probably still have to kill animals occasionally, just because we are here and we have to deal with things like mice in our granaries, feral cats in our Dumpsters, and beavers on our farmland. Sometimes killing an animal is a better choice than not killing an animal.

Oops! I guess she is older than I thought! It's still a cute name. The kids are adorable, by the way.

I tend to agree. Though still am respectful of her opinion. I'm am definitely a meat eater. And an avid hunter.

And while I know that I will have to kill animals from time to time, I definitely do not enjoy it. Its a necessary evil. One I try to avoid at all cost. But when it comes right down to it... if there is ano animal that endangers my children (cougars and grizzlies) or harming the herd (directly or indirectly) it needs to be taken care of. Whether its vermin in the grain poisoning it with their fecal matter, beavers changing the course of a water supply, or cougars killing cattle... if we don't take care of the situation then we loose livestock and therefore income. And then we can't take care of our family and cats.

However, I do not support the needless killing of any animal. And try to tell everyone that before they complain about an animal coming onto their, to remember that we tore down their habitat to build ours!!!

Thanks! Big Daddy is kinda handsome too if you could see his face. Lol. He's a cowboy in every sense of the word! Kinda has a Sam Elliot thing going on.
