We aren't even near 500 posts yet and the contest is going to end soon! X_X I really should be making my costume for this Saturday instead of browsing the web and looking at funny cat videos while my kitten sleeps next too me...maybe I should get started on my outfit....or maybe i'll get some cereal!

I have been wanting to ask this for a few days but am a little embarrassed that I have to ask. I don't want anyone to think that I'm not good to my cats. So.... ok... here it is... (deep breath)... what is DaBird? They way everyone talks about it I feel I may be depriving my cats of some wonderful, magical play thing.
http://www.petco.com/product/104943/Da-Bird-Feather-Teaser.aspx

this is the craze people are experiencing. My kitten didn't love it anymore then her other toys, so who knows what other people are doing to it to make kitties go nuts for it...kitty crack rubbed all over it maybe?

Anyone else think Mani's going to come back and post how many skeins of pretty wool she bought?

We should do a Knitervention.
Two skeins of varigated silk yarn (NOT WOOL I say...),  eight handblown glass beads, ten owl buttons

and a partridge in a pear tree

Terrible smilie there, but you get my meaning (I hope!). I miss crocheting so bad. Ever since we got back from our travels, I've had almost zero time to crochet. I could use me some granny squares time....

I have sooooooo much babbling to catch up on! After the eye doctor appointment yesterday(where they dilated my eyes and shined very, very bright lights in them) I was fairly blind and had an enormous headache and couldn't post.

:lol3::lol3::lol3: How can she tell the imaginary food isn't in your mouth?

I'm a happy camper right now. My old Kindle II is registered with Amazon in the U.S., because only amazon.com sold them back when I bought it. It's just about dead, so I've ordered a new one (the latest Paperwhite) from the German site, and figured they would switch my whole Kindle account to amazon.de. I just looked at my U.S. Kindle account, and the new Kindle has been added to it, although it won't be delivered for almost another three weeks.
jcat jcat So that means you can get books in English? Can you get books in English from amazon.de?

This is my inaugural babble, and l'm going to babble like a brook. Speaking of brook, l knew a girl named Brooke once, she lived down our road. That road was called Maple Close, and l ended up living in the land of the Maple Leaf. Speaking of hockey ... my Senators are on tonight, go Sens go! Our government senators are way overpaid and are making a mockery of our system. Our system checks at work turned up some equipment issues to address, had a tech fix them up. Tech could talk the backside off a baboon! He liked to babble, like a brook ...
You think your Canadian senators are mockery of the system? :flail: :flail: Head south for true mockery. :lol3::lol3:

*please note, do not turn the babble thread into a political discussion.

@katachtig
; my cousin just bought a house in Denver.  Being lifetime upstate New Yorkers prior to this; I'm sure they should be used to it!  My ex-stepbrother had moved there for about a month earlier this summer.  I don't know why but he moved home faster than he expected.  It was supposed to be temporary; but I didn't think THAT temporary!  What is it with Denver?
I also have a Colorado question for katachtig katachtig ! My cousin lives in Colorado Springs and last night on Facebook posted a picture of a woman grocery shopping and she had a baby kangaroo in a bag over her shoulder. His posting was all nonchalant like "Woman grocery shopping with a kangaroo". I obviously had to express my amazement and his response was "only in Colorado". What is with Colorado where baby kangaroos go grocery shopping, Keg has a snowstorm that follows him around and it is the land of the magical mouse game?

Ah, the allure of a good cuppa char!

l'm curious as to this talk of insufficient mouse play :lol3:  but there are 344 posts, so l'll let my imagination run riot rather than read back.

Babylon TCS family :rockout:   Babylon!
Oh you must go back and read it.

Plus have you seen my status?  I'm no longer a Newbie!  I'm finally a Kitten! :)

I wondered how many posts I would need to make to graduate to my next status.

I wonder what's next?  and how many posts you need to make to become a Super Cat? (Other than being a fur-covered, cuddle-loving, purr monster, which I can't be, but then my little monster can't type.  Although sometimes she tries....)

@PennyWise Here is some more information on that:

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/242191/promotions-and-benefits

You reach the next level at 20 posts. :)

Call me crazy. I am crazy so that's acceptable but I have no idea what you guys are talking about with the @ thing??? MServant you are hilarious sneaking into the bathroom to read the thread!!! I must admit I sometimes call into TCS in the middle of the night if I can't sleep.
@Tammat

@PennyWise congratulations on your kitten status. When I was at kitten I posted like crazy because I was very excited to move up to Adult Cat. When I got to 99 posts I was stuck. I didn't want to waste post 100 on something silly. But then my wonderful cats decided to help me out and cause enough trouble that I had to ask for advice. They love me that much that they would injure themselves just so I had something to post for my 100th post. They are so giving and thoughtful that way.
This is awful, but that last part there made me laugh out loud. :lol3:

I have been wanting to ask this for a few days but am a little embarrassed that I have to ask. I don't want anyone to think that I'm not good to my cats. So.... ok... here it is... Oh you must try it out!

handblown glass beads sound pretty!

Last January I saw some picture of beautiful cable afghans and though to myself "I can do that". When I was younger I used to be able to do some basic knitting. I bought a small book on how to knit and a kit to make a pretty scarf. Yep, it is all sitting in the bag still. :sigh: There is a yarn shop near me that has open class sessions. At some point I will go.

DaBird is kind of like my feather fishing pole. Thank goodness I haven't been depriving them of anything wonderful and magical.

Ugh! Cat fight. Have to go.

Possum/merino hand-dyed varigated yarn (bought last week so doesn't count as part of my no-wool-buying-day), hand-dyed varigated silk yarn (same as some I posted on the yarn thread), hand made owl buttons and glass beads and buttons.

Now I go to knit....

AbbysMom AbbysMom You can get most, but not all, of the English books from the U.S. site at the German site, but they're a bit hard to find and prices and release dates can differ. I read a while back that the EU may take action against e-book publishers for delaying release dates or not releasing some books in foreign markets. Amazon widened its range after that announcement, so the situation has improved, but you can still only order from the site where your Kindle is registered. I guess Amazon figured if they took action against publishers, retailers would be next.

Will I ever learn? Angel was snuggling with me and she suddenly hissed. Who knows why. Maybe Peanut sat funny or scratched wrong. I've been dealing with her hissing for a year now and I still try to pet her to calm her down. I may as well have picked her up and thrown her at Peanut, it has the same result. As soon as my hand touches her she freaks and takes off. Happens every time I touch her when she's mad, and I still do it without thinking.

Nothing major this time. Peanut has started running and then quickly lays down. Angel hasn't figured out what to do when he lays down so she stands there until someone walks by and she acts scared and runs away. I love the new lay down defense. It's funny to see them in a chase and suddenly he's a meatloaf. I don't know how he does it so fast.

About the Subway soup - maybe it is a regional thing. I'm in Colorado, and "flatbread" is all the rage over here. Do they have that in your area? Subway does an amazing job with their flatbread sandwiches - YUMMY. Have you guys heard of "Noodles & Company" restaurants? Well, some of the founders of Noodles have started a new restaurant near me called Basil Flats. And this place is ALL ABOUT Flatbread: Pizza, Sandwiches, Salads (yes!). So far there's only the one, but keep your eyes open, this could be the next Noodles. :-)

Your yarn looks just like my hair XD I dyed my hair quite similar to the colors of your yarn. Now I want to buy some yarn that matches my hair XD

I'm awake quite early today X_X

But you must weave.  I could not imagine being at Louet and not finding a loom to take home.
Surely there are people in Massachusetts who carry their baby kangaroos in a bag over their shoulders?  But we have a magical valley nearby where I grew up and it attracts many enlightened and interesting people.  I live close enough to enjoy the enlightenment, but I can avoid enlightenment overload.  As to the magical mouse game, it resides any place there is a feline who trains his human to find the elusive launching pad and develop the perfect throwing skills.  And as to Keg and his perpetual snowstorm, he is just unfortunate and needs to embrace the snow.

mani mani I love the colors of that yarn! Never heard of possum yarn, though, but of course Australian possums aren't the same as North American (o)possums (which are also cute, but have little ears and very big teeth). The owl buttons are adorable, too.

Sweet Tomatoes is very good though I don't get there much since I quit working.  Basil Flats is in Longmont and is very delish.
My DH, (affectionately known as Keg in this thread) has problems navigating in Longmont.  He gets turned around and lost. One time we used the GPS and it put us into the middle of a lake so he felt justified that Longmont can affect one's bearings.  But he can find Basil Flats.

So does Kiefer's magical mouse game include a secret stash of mousies? When I'm too dumb to figure out the current favorite color, tailed vs. tailless, jingling vs. non-jingling mouse, a certain little somebody has been known to disappear for a few minutes to get his "perfect mousie". We can't find the stash, and if you try to stealthily follow him he sits down and outwaits you.

*whispers* check under the stove! There is a strange gravitational pull that sucks the mousies, milk jug rings, hair ties, and wadded up paper-balls under the stove.

There were indeed two under the stove but they were black.  The gray ones have disappeared and I think there is a black hole in the house where they go.  They disappear and every once in awhile, he will go into the black hole to retrieve one.  I also think we may have a cache of mice in the heating ducts because Aoibhe and Kiefer pull u the register covers and Kiefer has a propensity to shove his mice into anything he can.

Aw darn it, missed when this began!  I'm sitting here, needing coffee so I can further look at my refined ethnicity results from my ancestry.com dna test.  They just completely updated my results (all results on their site).  It's again given me a HUGE curve ball.  Can't wait to discuss this one with my mom ;-)
