I haven't posted any pictures of Zeus and Athena lately, so I thought I would post the latest. They're about 5 months old now. Today is a bittersweet day. We were able to adopt out Zeus, which is great, but we weren't able to place him and Athena together. The guy that took him seems great, and he's my friend's roommate, so I'll be able to see him from time to time. He just didn't want 2 kittens right now, unfortunately, and there is an extra $300 pet fee to add another animal beyond Zeus. It's still not a bad deal. We took these guys in to nurse them and find them homes, and one has now. Athena still has several cats to play with, and Zeus will have a dog that I think he will get along with great. The guy that adopted him works from home, so he should also have plenty of time to play with him.
In other news, I've added another kitten to my household. I've been feeding the local strays, and one day a black and white kitten showed up at the bowl. He was afraid of me at first, but after a couple of days, he started letting me pet him. He seemed to really enjoy the petting. I have a really dominant female cat who was attacking him anytime she came around and found him near the food bowl, so that made my decision to bring him inside much easier.
I took him to the low-cost clinic and had him neutered, got his shots, and had him tested for FeLV/FIV (both negative
) and then brought him inside. He had worms, ear mites, and fleas, and all have been dealt with. In keeping with the theme of using the name of ancient gods, I named him Loki after the Norse god of mischief. So far, he's been an absolute sweetheart, despite the name. I kept him locked in the bedroom for the first 3 days, and now I've been letting him out more and more. My 3 cats hiss at him a bit, but so far there have been no problems. He doesn't run up on them like most kittens I've had in the past, and that seems to help a lot. Thufir has already touched noses with him a couple of times, so I suspect that before too long, they'll all be just fine together.
Here are Zeus and Athena together

Zeus sleeping
Hamming it up for the camera
Zeus loves to climb in the sink and play with the running water
I took this today, right before Zeus went to his new home
This is where I found Loki
Once he started letting me pet him, he couldn't get enough
Safely in my bedroom
And here he is cuddled up by my legs
