The Left Behind Series
Hanta Yo by Ruth Bebe Hill
There are more favorites, but this is all I can think of now
I love Harry Potter, and that's about the only books I read. I bought the first Twilight book, and have been trying to get myself to read it. Maybe I'll start this week when I have 5 days off in a row. I'm just not the reading type of person.
I am a big Stephen King fan but mostly his older novels. I also love the James Herriot Series. Other then those I have a tendency to read more non-fiction on a variety of subjects.
Let's see, anything written by Charles Dickens, Martha Grimes's Richard Jury series, THE CAT WHO series, the Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie Brown Mrs. Murphy series, the Joe Grey series, ALMOST everything written by Stephen King.
Harry Potter - read them all at least 2X - once when they came out, once before each movie came out, as a refresher, and sometimes just as a mood booster!
Love in the times of cholera
100 years of solitude
Like water for Chocolate
Eat, Pray and Love
Testament of youth, by Vera Brittain
The long winter, by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Moment in Peking, by Lin Yutang
Beyond belief, by Emlyn Williams
A woman at war, by Molly Moore
Time-Life WWII series and thier Civil War series
One of my favorite books that I think that an unfortunately small number of people have heard of is Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. (Religious types don't get too excited, non-religious types don't get too dismissive: religion is certainly one of its primary subjects, but in a very creative and interesting way.) The book is usually classified as Science Fiction, but it certainly has some fantastic elements and doesn't go to great lengths to describe science (it's about the result of science/fantasy near future).
Paint it Black by Janet Fitch.
Recently the Twilight series
also the Anita Blake vampire hunter series
the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.
one of my favorite books of all time is The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas, also liked The Count of Monte Cristo, same author
I've been really meaning to get into reading some of the classics, I was the weird one in school who loved the reading lists
as for current authors, I love anything by Nora Roberts, I am constantly amazed at how she can write about such a wide range of topics and do them so well! and of course the Harry Potter series!
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (the whole series)
Pride and Predjudice
The Mists of Avalon
The Time Travellers Wife
Secret Life of Bees
Here Be Dragons by Sharon kay Penman (and the sequels)
The Eyre Affair by Jsper Fforde (all his Thursday Next books, really)
Stephanie Plum series
most Jodi Picoult
I like historical fiction, fantasy, and humor and mystery and...
everything by Jasper Fforde (the above mentioned Thursday Next series, etc)
Anything by Maya Angelou... she's so poetic in her fiction/autobiographical works... man... she's good.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend both The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (451 is about a society where books are illegal, awesome read)
And my constant traveling companion: Sophie's World, but Jostein Gaardner. A mixture of fiction and the history of philosophy. That and my iPod are all I need on a plane...
I have too many to name, but aside from the Harry Potter series, I really like Kathy Reichs, Jonathan Kellerman, Dean Koontz, Steve Martini, James Patterson, Ann Rule....The Joe Grey and Mrs. Murphy series are fun.
