I found a kitten who was only about four or five weeks old - four weeks ago so he's eight, nine weeks old now. He got outside tonight and now we can't find him. It was dark and late by the time we realized so couldn't walk through people's yards though I will be in the morning but I am wondering, worrying is he travelling farther and farther or "hunkering down." It's a beautiul night so I'm sure he's enjoying himself though me not so much!

How did it got out in the first place? It's pretty dangerous for him to be wandering by himself. Hope he doesn't wander far and doesn't wander into ferals colony or meet up with dogs.
Try listening for his mewing. When he's hungry he'll mew loudly.
Maybe he went into hiding at your own backyard? Hope you find him fast.

I am sorry your sweet kitty got outside. I hope he has returned. If not, I would go door to door and ask for your neighbors help. You can also post signs of a lost kitten. You can also contact vets in your area to ask if anyone has brought in a kitten. Also check shelters in your area.

OMG! I have NO IDEA where my little kitten was but he was NEVER OUTSIDE! We looked and looked and LOOKED in the house for him, concluding he must have darted outside when someone opened the door (our dog can open the door! Ugg!) and then suddenly he appeared in the kitchen!
Great news!! Kittens can squeeze into very very small spaces. So glad you found him and he is safe and sound.
That's great to hear. It got us all worried for awhile!
It happened once to my kitten too. He was afraid of the vacuum cleaner sound and he disappeared and couldn't find him for awhile. He was actually hiding amongst some heap of boxes, lol.
