I choose Britney because she has worked for her success. And I believe many parents have accidently dropped their babies(my husband was one and my daughter had to get stitches). No one is a perfect parent.

The doctor dropped my sister when she was born - so her tripping isn't such a big deal, its not like she threw the baby or didn't feed it or went out partying and didn't bother to get a babysitter like some parents.

I would hope neither, but if I had to choose it would be Britney

I don't know about that Sheng...in Kentucky, women in prison have increased 128% since the 1980's....that might be the reason??????

I chose Britney only because I really wouldn't want my little girl to be a porno star or act like a spoiled, stuck up brat all the time.

I don't like Britney either, but I had to pick. The lesser of two evils.

I think Britney wanted Sean Preston, so that is not really a birth control issue.

This would probably better-suited for an IMO topic, but I have always thought that the people are too harsh on others who reproduce due to the so-called "population explosion". I mean......Yes, we do have a population explosion, especially in the Third World Countries.

However, people die so young in those countries that if you count population by the TOTAL amount of combination of the ages of people instead by the per capita count, then the earth's population is actually decreasing. So I don't think people need to be so harsh on others who procreate at unfortunate times/events. The earth's population would more likely than not remain stable for now.

No, just britney went off birthcontrol because she WANTED to have kids

I pick Britney, she was never anorexic, she always had some skin that wasnt down to the bone like Paris, Britney doesnt swear to little children like Paris and Nicole do, and Britney has actually achieved something! not just be famous because her parents have a hotel

You know, sometimes I wonder if Britney Spears would be the spokeperson of conservative, anti-abortion groups decades later.............That would be an intersting thing to happen............

I picked Ms Hilton. Because she has better social skills (well, she does) and she certainly doesn't try to pretend to be something she's not. You never saw her try to cover up her mistakes (like that sex tape) or act like she was a virgin. I guess if she has one good quality it's honesty about her faults, like she is a snob but she acts like she's a snob, she is as we used to call them in middle school a "Ritz Bitz" (think of a different rhyme) but she acts like one... Would you call that integrity of character? She's not whiny and doesn't pretend to act like a fragile femme fatale.

It really is a lesser of two evils and if either of them were a role model for my daughter I'd be taking them to counseling and buying them Gloria Steinem books.

before i opened this thread, i thought we were supposed to pick a woman we'd want to be a role model for our daughter, and i was trying hard to think of someone. i don't have kids yet, but hypothetically. i couldn't come up with anyone, because there are elements i admire in a lot of women. for example, Courtney Love - she's said "growing up, my friends all wanted to have relations with rock stars. i didnt want to do that. i wanted to BE the rockstar". her take no prisoners attitude, the way she's not afraid to be a strong woman. on the other hand, there's the fact that she's battled drugs for years - of course i wouldn't want my daughter to emulate that. i really don't think i could name one person as a role model.

to answer the question tho, i'd pick Britney. i think Paris is vapid, and of course there's the whole "caught on tape saying the N-word" which was a bit disgusting. at least Brit worked for her fame.

Agreed.

Really though, people worship them not because they are worthy of worship, but because by worshipping them they anger their parents.......

If I had to choose I would certainly choose Britney. No argument. It is not her fault that the press are totally out to get her and make our decisions for us as far as we are concerned. I am disgusted at what the tabloid media (well, all media) in fact, are doing to her. She is a young woman with a baby in the public eye. Sure, she's a bit dopey, a bit ditzy and a bit trashy, but she is a mother doing her best. I cannot believe the way she is being victimised by the press - what parent has a child who doesn't have accidents? What parent doesn't make mistakes? What parent doesn't inadvertently put their child in danger sometimes because it's their first time and they're still learning? Good Lord when I was four I got into the cupboard, found some superglue and stuck myself to a chair with it. I was in hospital for three weeks. It was on the front page of the paper, but as a warning of dangers, not to villify my mother for being irresponsible.

Britney can dance, she can kind of sing, she's worked hard for her success from an extremely young age and she's growing up under the glare of the media. I would most certainly choose her as a role model because her work ethic speaks for itself. She always talks about her family and how important they are to her - she is doing her best in the difficult world of fame.

Paris, on the other hand....um, what has she ever done? She is the shallowest, most morally bankrupt bimbo I've ever seen in my life.

Easy choice for me!!

well said
did you see Matt Lauer interview Britney recently? i felt bad for her-she broke down crying when talking about how the Paparazzi stalk her and the tabloids call her a bad mother.

Every new parent makes mistakes. Hers just happen to be caught on camera.

If I had to pick, I'd pick Britney. After watching her interview, I don't think she's so bad.. but Paris Hilton? I hate her with a passion.

I don't like Paris Hilton either but why are people so quick to defend Britney Spears so quick to judge Paris so harshly? If you don't want to believe the media hype making people look bad then don't believe it about anyone.

I find the mark of an interesting person to be that people can find reason to hate them with a passion. Nobody hates Britney Spears with a passion because she's kind of pathetic in the cute way. Or acts like it at least.

Shengmei, that's so totally true about kids liking someone to make their parents mad. In third grade I claimed to LOVE Ross Perot. For just that reason.

My 10 y/o daughter doesn't know who Paris Hilton is. I saw her on that show where she and Nicole went to poor peoples homes to live. She was very condescending and rude. Also quite lazy. And I know she got rid of her miniature chihuahua because it got too big. No way do I want a child of mine to be like her.

My dd does know who Brittany is, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't know any of the ditsy stuff about her.

I didn't vote, because I don't want my daughter to look up to either of those women!

I picked Paris because I think that Brittany seems to have low self esteem and the whole KFed thing disturbs me. Paris has tv, movies, and now music I guess, and doesn't need a man. But I would prefer neither..
