Well, this morning was the worst vet visit EVER (I say in my best Comic Book guy voice). Compared to some of your war stories it might not seem too bad, but so far this was the most nervous Snowball has been.
She had a bald spot on her hiney, and I felt some bumps that felt like bug bites, so I brought her in. She's on Frontline, but it seems to not be working as well and I suspect the fleas are building an immunity (the vet said that's rare, but possible). So, she got a Cortizone shot to reduce the irritation and give the hair a chance to grow back, and meanwhile I just got a bunch of Revolution.
When I put her in the carrier, she whined more than usual, and by the time I got to the vet I noticed a rank odor. Now, she's an outside cat, so I've never had to deal with her "waste," but man-o-man was that a bad stench. When I looked in the carrier the urine had filled in the little trench that's in the carrier. When the vet came to see her, she wouldn't come out, so we had to kind of dump her out. Out came two lumps of poop. She'd really freaked out! Anyways, we cleaned her up a bit, gave her the shot, and I brought her home. To clean her up I just filled a basin with warm water and dunker her in and massaged her fur, then dried her. I wasn't sure what kind of soap would be safe.
I just bought some waterless shampoo; it's a powder that apply to the fur and brush out. Hopefully that will help. Of course, I had to buy her some Whiskas Tempations treats (turkey flavor) to make up for being such a horrible cat daddy
