My cat had been gagging for sometime and I thought she was trying to pass a hairball but nothing ever came up. Then last week she seemed to take a turn for the worse and Sunday night was horrible for her. She was gagging, had extremely labored breathing and very weak. I let her rest on Monday then brought her to the vet on Tuesday. He took an x-ray and told me that she has a lot of fluid around her heart and in her chest and sent us home with diuretics for her. She is a gem in taking her meds hasn't spit up any so far. She is taking her meds every 12 hours. Her activity level is non-existent at this time and is still weak but not as bad as the beginning of the week. Her eyes are bright and her breathing isn't as labored as before. However, today (3d day on diuretics) she has not gone to the bathroom - should I be concerned?
Age: 13 years
Breed: Torti
Eyes: bright and alert
Eating/Drinking: definitely drinking and eating a little
Not ready to say goodbye to my best gal-buddy but will if she is suffering.
