UGH!! SO I just called 12 dentists here in town - and NONE of them will see me!! They either dont take my insurance, OR, you have to be on a waiting list and that could take up to 3 months!

Thank goodness my dentist back home is so awesome- he prescribed me some meds to pick up at my pharmacy here where I live (he is 2.5 hrs away) so looks like I'll be always driving back home to go there for any dental problems! This is just insane- I'm SO mad!!

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Kenz i'm just seeing this now. I was very lucky in the fact that all of mine came through with no problems, apart from one where there was still a tiny flap of skin were it broke through and it was prone to getting a couple of infections with food being trapped underneath
That's when i invested in an electric toothbrush and i had no more problems.

I hope the pain goes soon with the meds because it's horrible having teeth pain

That's just crazy! My mom works at a dentist office and they would take you right away but you might have to see a specialists afterwards.

I know- its just insane!! And just to see a Dr/Dentist at our clinic, where they specialize in Wisdom Teeth was $137 for a consult and an xray! NO THANKS! I'm gonna wait til my MA kicks in, and go back home- this is just insane!

And by the way- my pain meds are kicking in and I feel WONDERFUL.... finally!!
No more throbbing in my mouth! My headache is still there abit, but its going away as well... ahhh

Try rubbing some clove oil on it. You may be able to get this either at a pharmacy or health food store.

I had issues 'dry sockets' after having my wisdom teeth removed. Killer pain (something to do with the nerves healing). Anyway, the dentist had me come in every three days. He would soak gauze in clove oil and stuff the sockets. It was instant relief.

Clove oil kills pain. You may find it in the tooth section at the drugstore. It's also good for other mouth pain ie. canker sores.

Swishing some salted water around in your mouth could help, or even Listerine to keep it clean.

P.S. I love your new siggy! It's one of my favourites at the moment.

Could you call your other dentist and ask if he can recommend anyone closer? Or even recommend someone who he thinks is good. You will have to have someone else drive you home after your teeth are removed. Poor DH was soo confused after he woke up that it was sort of funny.

I second swishing with some salt water, it does help and you don't need to mix it strong enough that you actually taste the salt.

I still have my wisdom teeth, they really should come out, among some other teeth issues that need to be taken care of.
I've put it off because of other health problems and bad reactions to local anesthetics.
I'm just thankful that I have a somewhat high tolerance to pain.

Good to hear that the prescription meds helping.

I've used an electric toothbrush for a few years now- it does feel good to use it back there, and tonight I used a little mouthwash on a cotton ball to soak it for awhile just to get it a little clean- and numb
It didn't help much on the pain, but it did feel a bit better to get it cleaned out a bit.

The pain meds really only last for 4 hrs- and they knock me right out- I took a whole one at work today and had to leave early, since I couldn't eat anything, I only had a chocolate shake and obviously that wasn't enough- I got really nauseus from them, luckily they knew I was in pain, and let me leave work an hour early

I'm still in pain, but I hope the meds for the infection ( that my dr. thinks I may have) will start to work and the swelling will start to go down... I can only hope! It really looks like someone punched me in the face
Not attractive at all!

Thanks for listening to me vent... you guys are the best

They really are- I've never had such problems with them before! I talked to my Aunt today and she had problems with hers too- I think the same ones. Must run in the family cuz my mom had them too

I just hate being on these meds, they aren't helping too much (but then again, its only been a few hours
) but I just hate taking stuff, I'm always paranoid

Oh yeah, I know the feeling. WHen I was taking my happy pills, I was always thinking about the damage they could do to my liver.
And I could only take them close to bedtime cos they made me so sleepy and I am around machinery at work so I didn't want to risk it and endured the pain. THankfully my grandparents gave me the $1000 needed to get them out - they are not normally this generous!

Wow! Thats so generous!
Yeah, I'm always afraid- especially since I was taking 4 advil/ibuprofun a day for 3 days, & now I'm on Amoxicillin (1 every 8 hours) for the infection and Darvocet (1 every 4-6 hours) for the pain- I'm always worried that it'll do some weird damage to my heart or liver... or something

I hope it's the infection that is causing most of the pain. I hate any drug stronger than sinus pills. I hope you feel better soon.

Ohhhh....I like Darvocet! I took it once....& saw all kitties everywhere!
I think that was Darvocet that did that to me, anyways...
Totally knocked me off my feet taking it....I was so nutty. My mom was panicking as I made no sense(even less than normal
).

OK....maybe I shouldn't have told you that!

I have a pretty high tolerance for stuff like that- it doesn't do much to me except make me a little tired, and really calm and relaxed... not much for the pain tho, well, it works a bit, but not as well as I wish it would!
I think I'm gonna make an appointment for next Friday @ my dentist back home to get it removed. This is just insane!

Darvocets work for you people?
They give really bad dry eyes but that's it.

Darvocets are just acetaminophen and an opioid(with a really long name...). Acetaminophen is slightly better on GI unless you take too much since it has a lower toxicity level then aspirin and ibuprofen.

Kenz, I hope that you are pain free now and that your teeth don't keep bothering you.(I ended up having to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth cut out.)

Thanks Tammy
I was in huge pain last night, but didn't take anymore of the Darvocets, because they made me feel really weird- my heart was racing and I just felt out of it. So I dunno if that was because I had taken them without eating anything or what, but it freaked me out
BUT... I will continue taking the meds for the infection, I think it might be working a bit because the swelling has gone down and this morning when I woke up I could actually shut my teeth together when I closed my mouth- YAY!

I'm gonna take another one for the infection now so I stay on top of it... go away infection!

O-H-I-O!
That is insane that you have to wait for 3 months! My office gaurentees that we get new patients in in less than 2 weeks! But you need to go to a general dentist and he will need to refer you to an oral surgeon. Then you go there for a consult first and they explain what happens and how long it takes and post-op instructions. I haven't had mine out yet but I will be able to get 50% off from my new dental so that's exciting(
)

Anyways, I hope the pain goes away.

OH and impacted means that they haven't come in and are still under your gums and coming in crooked and pushing on your other teeth....
