I have a stray that should be around 14 or 15 months old by now. I meet him last year around September and he looked to be only a few months old then. Since he was all young last year i started feeding him kitten chow and continued feeding him that throughout the winter since i know its more calorie dense. By the end of the winter he was admittedly more plump. After switching back to a normal adult cat food brand he lost the excess weight rather quickly.
Now that its getting colder again I'm wondering if i should slightly alter his feeding tobetter prepare him for the coming months. Should i switch over too feeding him straight kitten food or maybe a mix of half kitten food half adult food. I was also thinking of maybe supplementing with more wet food.
His water bowl would also freeze on occasion so i made sure to check on it 2 to 3 times a day to swap it out. His little area is in a spot that would be less than ideal to run a power cord too for a heated water dish. Do they by chance make battery operated heated dishes?
Also he likes eating people food. Whenever i was grilling outside during the summer he would hang around waiting for scraps like a dog. So i would give him the occasional small piece of un seasoned choked rare like I like it, also some chicken occasionally. On one occasion he even jumped up on the table grabbed one of my French fries and ran away (I'm also told that one day my niece in the yard eating breakfast and he tried to get one of her pancakes. So if anyone has any easy home made meals i could make for him maybe once or twice a week would be appreciated. Also in terms of eggs he won't easy them raw, snuffed butdidn't easy a boiled egg (yolk only) but he likes them scrambled (haven't tried over easy or poached yet)
